We always talk of the replacement of the tensioner bearings when doing belts. Are the bearings for the drive cogs lubed by engine oil and do not require the frequent replacement?

On Mondiali (?), the inner cam drive ball bearing is lubricated by the engine oil and very lightly-loaded so almost never needs replacement before a total engine rebuild is required. The outer ball bearing is grease lubricated, and moderately-loaded, so replacing at 60K~90K miles could be expected IMO (and/or the lipseal could need refreshment -- maybe even sooner as time is harder on a elastomeric material versus a steel material, and it's been some time since birth for all Mondial).

If car has not been driven for a very long time like the one I purchased, outer bearings had to be replaced even at 30k miles.
