The consensus was about 50%/50% to drive or ship my newly aquired 355 from Houston Tx to Las Vegas about 1600 miles. I decided to drive the car and even though I was rushed to do it in 2 days I would not have missed it for the world, I will always remember this trip in this car what a blast.

It was boring driving through Texas on the 10 and made it to a small town 200miles outside of El Paso the first day, got caught in a major T Storm had to hide under an overpass for a while was one of the highlights, temps were way over 108' and the a/c kept the car cold all the way, car caused abit of a scene in this town I stayed the night at, was trying to make a uturn in a parking lot and a young guy pulled behind blocking me in and got out of his car and walked up and said I want to just shake your hand that is the coolest car I have ever seen, had a few other events like this as well, I will say Texas has some great mom and pop barbeque restaurants and friendly people.

The next day it got fun, took the scenic route though New Mexico backroads and Arizona via Show Low, Payson etc., met plenty of cool people that really appreciated seeing a Ferrari in person, had some fun runs with guys on race bikes as well through the mountain passes.

Definately drive them, so glad I did.

First pic is the car, wanted something different after having 2 red Ferraris, the next pics are some of the backroads the indicator light is for the sport suspension mode of course, need it when dodging bambi who doesn't yield to Ferraris, the 355s handling is absolutely phenominal is all I can say.

The pic in front of the old cars is in Williams Az on Route 66 shows a very dirty 355, so much for a garage queen, the guy I bought the car from owned it 4 years a 2 owner car, he put maybe almost 3000miles on it during that time, I put over half that on it my first 2 days.

I sprayed the front with the Duplicolor sheild and it definately helped prevent chips, you can see the dull finish it gives in the pic with the hoods open, when talking to a few folks they mentioned the paint on the car as it dulls the finish and looks as if the clear is peeling since it gives a frosted white look to it.

Decided to go solo, would have been a little too much pressure worrying about her which I don't know very well at all and the car having any issues along with the amount of miles I needed to cover in 2 days.

I told her I would take her on another trip that would not be so rushed and could take it easy plus not as far to go.

Glad to see you made it without any issues mate. :) I was one of the guys that told you to truck it, not drive it. But looking at your pics, looks like you had awesome roads to drive on and your 355 looks very very nice. Great story and good to hear you had a enjoyable time!! Congrats again buddy and keep racking up thoses miles. :D

    Great car, beautiful color.
I agree, drive the car. I bought my first Ferrari at 49 years old after being a major fanatic my whole life. Live in Maryland, bought the car in Houston Tx. Flew down with my 12 year old son and it was the adventure of a lifetime.
I couldn't believe I was actually driving it because I wanted it so long. Everyone we met was very cool. First day in Louisiana at a gas station. A man next to us in a Navigator way more expensive than I paid about 9 o'clock at night strips off his tie and says man what I wouldn't give to be you guys. We drove back 2000 miles in 3 days dodging a major ice storm the whole way. It was December. The second day we drove 18 hours straight with only about a half hour break at breakfast and 1 hour at dinner. Each of the hotels let us park right in front of the door by the lobby so the luggage guys could keep an eye on it.
I was not prepared for the amount of attention. Dozens of people hanging out of cars taking pictures on cell phones and even a little old african-american lady thumbs up in Louisiana. She must have been 90.
My son and I had a ridiculously huge smile on our faces the entire way. One of the greatest bonding experiences I could imagine.
One more highlite was pulling into MY garage after three long days getting out of the car and having my wife and daughter run out smiling like we had been gone for a year.
    This thing changes your life.

Congrats on your purchase. I am still a few years away from mine, but when I do get one she will NOT be a trailer queen and will be driven hard, just like Enzo intended.

    Great story!!!

    I agree - DRIVE IT!

I bought my 330 GTC in 1975 and drove it from Georgia to upstate NY - stopped once overnight.

The car performed flawlessly and I would definitely do it again.

I still have it, still drive it regularly.
