My Dino is my pride and joy / ultimate baby. Please excuse the gushing but I figure this site is as good as it gets to do that. I just drove her last night and was so impressed with this car. I think it's the greatest machine ever, and Ferrari uncovered a great formula or a secret recipe of chassis/gearbox/engine/interior/suspension. The long throw on that accelerator pedal is awesome. She easily climbed to about 6k revs in 4th just gently going up through the gears when I realized my velocity was a bit brisk. I was going to let off when the little devil on my shoulder took over and I eased the pedal down further just for a short while. The incredible thing is the way it continued to pull strongly. Got a cigarette:)

My point is (aside form the verbose tangent) that I don't drive her much and spend more time doing preventative maintenance than driving her, and I had a sneaking suspicion that the crankcase ventilation system / oil vapor return could use a servicing. The belts are pretty fresh, motor oil is brand new, as well as the rest of the service and tune up comp's, but the breather system was really scunged and full of water. A good sign of complete combustion, but a bad sign of not driving her for long enough trips to control water. I plan to do another oil change real soon. Also look for more excuses to drive her!

Was that a sales pitch?, now I'm taking mine for a drive today. I've known since the day I purchased my car that I would only drive it on special occasions. How to define a special occasion? Every time I drive my car! I need to head over to the drug store today, sounds like a special occasion. Of course I'll take the long way and get at least 20 miles on it.

Don't forget everyone that it's important to change your fuel as often as possible. Ideally I renew my fuel a minimum of every month. I've done it once already this month and will do so again in two weeks when a buddy flies out to visit.

Sales pitch - Yeah I know, it sure does sound that way, but she's NOT for sale. :) Are you still captivated by this machine? It's just a great mixture of exhilaration and magic. I've owned mine 24 years now and I still get a rush from getting behind the wheel.

I like your theory on changing the fuel. Definately a good maintenance tip. I've also noted that she runs even better when I have more opportunities to take her out.

I was thinking sales pitch as in you sold me on the idea of going for a drive. And I did. I put 120 miles on the Mondial since the last post. Took it out to visit someone and got half of that nasty five day old gas out of the tank. I think it's time for a new thread on reasons to take the car out, I'm headed to general.

Hopefully the F-chat community will come to your rescue and come up with lots of reasons to drive. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269515

I drive my 328 whenever I need a break. I think I had too many breaks already.

Have I? I will think about that later, I need a break now.

Drive em'!! My mondial 3.2 cab is my little work truck - I put the top down and take it to HomeDepot and buy plumbing supplies (like 10' sections of copper pipe) or building supplies (the occasional 2X4 or drainage pipe). The 308 is not quite as practical, being as it's a smaller car, but it's good for milk runs to the grocery store for my four young kids who all drink milk like there's no tomorrow. Either one is eminently more practical than some other cars I have (which are totally useless).

    So drive and enjoy!

The worst thing you can do is not drive them enough.
No use changing the oil if the condensation keeps on getting into it, and a short drive isn't enough to clear it out.
Where do you live and what climate?
Fill out your profile so we know where you live and what actual cars you have.
