My buddy from the Philippines is in town for 2 weeks. He's shipping his murcie back to the Philippines after xmas and he is eager to take it out.

I still have to finalize the plans, but he told me last night he might be able to go on a drive this Sat (weather permitting).

Arun - you and him could have an exhaust "sound off" contest since he took his muffler and 2 of his cats out. His car is F'ing LOUD!

I'll keep everyone posted closer to Saturday.

Yin - Sunday is tough since I have a huge holiday party the night before and he has some family stuff that day.

Depends how I feel on Sunday morning, I may be able to join you. Not sure about him, though. Everything is up in the air for now, but try to join us too if we push through on Sat.

Sounds good! I will call you on Friday. Hopefully we can get more people to come. Have you planned a route yet? Skyline is always a good choice.

If you guys want a good route that you can avoid the po on, take page mill to skyline, and then go up from there.

    --Dan

*edit* i haven't been up it in about a year, they were repaving some sections so i am not sure how great the road is. should be good, but i can't vouch for it.

The last time I drove up Page Mill in my 360 (about 1 1/2 yrs ago) it was a very poor choice for a Modena. At least 3 spots with heavy bottoming. Can't recommend this route. 84 is still the best way up to Skyline even though it is always crowded.

Page Mill past Hwy. 280 is one of the WORST roads to take to Skyline. Ferraris, like Gary stated, will bottom out, the corners are 10--15mph, and the road is extremely narrow. Hwy. 9 or Hwy. 84 is a much better option.

It looks like I may be able to make at least part of this run. My Sunday is wiped out but this may just work.

It's isn't the best road in a couple spots, but its not horrible. If you know the spots, it's not a problem. Mainly near the park and the very top are poor.

Well, I had spirited canyon driving in mind, so for that, Page Mill IS horrible. However, it is interesting to navigate through the sharp corners--especially on a motorbike.

I've been known to be quite spirited up Page Mill ;), but I suppose 9 is probably the best (just watch our for the 5-0).

I think 84-> 1 is my favorite section, you can really get some great speed through there if you don't run into slow cars.

I've done pagemill several times to skyline and both times were in a motorcycle. Those corners can really catch you by surprise.

Sorry to say I can not make this one. Maybe next time.

So it looks like the Page Mill option is out. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Let's try to make the route a little different. I hope the people more familiar with the are can chime in.

Summit Road off 17 into Soquel can be fun. The thing is, except for 84 from Woodside to 1, and 9, the roads around Skyline aren't that great (Page Mill and Arastadero are pretty bumpy).

9 from Saratoga all the way into Santa Cruz is a pretty fun drive...

my car bottoms out on the Page Mill cyclists, too. After a while , you learn to turn on the winshield wipers and move on.

Arun and I will put together 2 routes. Then we will let everyone decide on Sat morning which option they prefer to take.

This will be a short drive only - 2 hours max then maybe some lunch after.

Hey Alex: I know Woodside isn't all that big, but it'd help if you posted an address, cross streets, landmark, longitude & latitude...somethin' for us mentally-challenged folk ;-).
