Interesting. We will see some different lineups for next year. Good. I guess Fisico realized that he is too old to hang around at Sauber until there is a vacancy at Ferrari. Bummer, I would have liked him drive the red car. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, that he gets to do at least a test drive, but if he moves on, that seems to become less and less likely. So who will get the 2nd Sauber seat? Also I heard, that Williams aren't too happy with Gene, so maybe Pizzonia drives the car in Hockenheim. Not that it really matters either way...
Former world champion Mika Hakkinen is planning a return to Formula One, according to McLaren team boss Ron Dennis. "We had a long conversation," Dennis told the BBC. "Mika sought my opinion. I gave it as a friend and he went back to Finland to consider the position." Hakkinen, who won the championship in 1998 and 1999, retired from F1 at the end of the 2001 season. He has been linked with Williams, but team boss Frank Williams refused to say if he had held talks with the Finn, who will be 36 in September. "I think Mika may have talked to quite a few people, not necessarily us," said Williams. Williams have two places to fill next season, with Mark Webber and Giancarlo Fisichella widely considered to be the front-runners for the seats to replace Ralf Schumacher, who is off to Toyota, and Juan Pablo Montoya who is joining McLaren. Source AFP There is a seat empty at Williams next year? Mika and Mark W. driving for the same team??? maybe maybe!
As much as I would like to see another WC in the field, I think he is too old for the game. If he prooves me wrong, all the better. But somehow I have painful flashbacks of Mansell's, Andretti's and Jones' comebacks, which really didn't help their glory. Admittedly Andretti did best, but still.
Where did you get the Trulli bit? I do not recall him signing yet. Do you mind posting a link? Just about everyone is tipped for Williams anyway. Let's wait and see what actually happens before posting as many "sure to be next at Willilams" bits. Didn't Autosport tip Scott Dixon for the seat? Jeff Gordon? JV? Might as well say Mansell and Damon Hill as the super senior duo. RocketBoy
Yes, this is very interesting as I have not heard this at all even mentioned yet. I don't know why Jarno would want to move, and I don't know why Renault would want to get rid of him. Crazy.
Thanks Tillman... I really don't buy it. Not doubting Imperial, and everyone knows the British press makes up their own headlines, but would Flav just let Trulli go? Trulli going to an up and up team like Toyota ( who definitely seem commited to getting results more so than Jaguar, ) would be a smack in Flav's face and why would he hurt his own team? Its going to be interesting to see what Flav can garner from the Weber stalking as he still has the managerial rights to Mark, correct? Sounds like Rikky and I agree, this rumor makes no sense. RocketBoy
Well the talk about Trulli moving to Toyota was on f1live.com I think it just helps to stir the pot a little bit and I wanted to know what other F1 fans were thinking about it. Take the news about Trulli moving to Toyota with 50% discount marked on it because who knows what wil happen till it happens. The deal is not sealed until it is sealed, you know what I mean.
oh yeah I know they are all the same! Well they get their news from the same source as crash.net and the F1 page maintained by (UK) yahoo.co.uk. I like the fact that they update news daily and I also try to check the Associated Press wires for F1 news on there. As I said the news about Trulli was just to stir up some converstaion to see what people think. Who knows what will happen in the end.
I think it will be interesting to see what Williams does with the remainder of the season. I was looking at the numbers and they are mathamatecially out of it for the driver's championship as well as the constructor's. So from that point of view maybe they will try interesting things with Ralf's empty seat. That brings up another question, will Ralf drive for Williams again this season?
http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=30682 Well there you go Imperial, you were right... but I still think the news caught up to you. I don't understand how talks between a team GM who acts as the driver's manager can leak out contract talks. Sounds as if someone at Renault is speculating very openly to the press with no factual grounds. I think Trulli fits in well at Renault, but is a finishing type and not so crazy character like Da Matta, so I can understand the gossip. It's disapointing to see Da Matta not have more favorable results, because he seems like one of the few headcases in F1 and actaully did work his way to the ultimate series with an impressive US run. This is the sort of talent we need in F1. Get rid of Massa, de Matta, Trulli, Fisi ... whoever, somebody has to make way for this chap! Pete
Well I am happy to be of service. But I think Trulli might stay at Renault and is just playing hard ball with them right now. Lets see what happens. Sato!!! maybe maybe!
Vitantonio Liuzzi sounds like a DAGO name to me. Get rid of the brazillian and replace him so an Italian can win the F1 championship in an Italian F1 car when the german retires. P.S. For all you chest pounding, soapbox-sermon, hypocritical, moral nitwits (with absolutely no sense of humor), both my parents came off the "banana boat" so I'm an 100% guinea, greaseball, dago, wop, spaghetti bender and would be proud to have a fellow pizza cutter win the championship.
Hmmm ... don't think Renault are gaining anything myself. Both Trulli and Fisi are of the same round in circles level IMO, but yes I would have sacked Trulli straight after the French GP! Pete
Fisi CONFIRMED for Renault. Webber CONFIRMED for Williams. I am happy to see Fisi get a seat in a contender. It will be interesting to see if he is as good as people think. Webber with Williams could also be quite interesting. Source: http://www.itv-f1.com/Home.aspx
Exactly. If Fisi continues to drive at Renault the way he drives the Sauber, I have no doubts he'll end up on the podium. I wonder whether Ferrari lets him drive their car though sometime this year? Probably not.
