I have a funky problem. When I got my "new" 2003 spyder the first thing I did was pull up on the door lock lever on the drivers side. The rubber paint finish just came off in my hand and I lost the black finish and the "LOCK" logo on the lever! (I have to assume that the guys who detailed the car at the dealer used the wrong product to clean the door panel and that it softened the rubber paint finish. I notice that the ashtray door with the same rubber paint finish is super sensitive to scratches also. I checked with the dealer and to replace the "LOCK" lever I must replace the entire mechenism in the door for $750! Any one out there got just the Lock lever? Any one have the same problem? P.S. I am totally in love with my car....I am also a windsurfer and when I was out today I came upon the bottom line...... I went to Italy with my wife.....We spent a load of money renting a car and driving around Italy and seeing the sights. When we got back we both decided that although it cost a fortune it was worth the money. I am realizing the same thing about this car....It cost a bundle but so far it has exceeded my expectations (which were considerable by the way)
I have a spare mechanism. When I bought my 360, the latch itself was gouged, but the lock is in good shape. PM me with your address and I'll send it to you for free. I can give you some tips on removal and replacement, I've had my doors apart several times.
