I was wondering. Can anyone think of any F1 drivers who actually have an ambition, to want to drive for a specific team.
The only current driver i can think of is LH who has always wanted to race for Mclaren. I did read once that Eddie Ervine wanted to drive a ferrari since he was a child. And i was just informed that allegedly Massa has as well. I remember watching a documentary were Jackie Stewart always wanted to drive for ferrari to, even though he was loyal to Ken Tyral.
For quite some time now i get the feeling that drivers of today just want a seat in any team as long as they get a drive.
I get this feeling from Kimi and always have. Ever since he was disrespectful about Suhuey in 06 when he commented that he was having a s***, when he was awarded a trophy. I thought to my self, that guys not tifosi:(
One never hears of any drivers who say that it has been there ambition to drive for long standing teams. What do you think? Can you think of any examples past or present, who had one goal team to drive for.
Please dont make this a hate thread, its for discussion.

I know Fisichella always wanted to drive for Ferrari. Lobbied anytime a seat was available.

Personally, I think being a team player is more important than simply being "loyal to one team". I like when a driver always tries to put the team first, doesn't make excuses and doesn't blame the team for their mistakes....no matter what team that driver is driving for. That's one reason why I've always liked Kimi. It's hard for me to respect or "trust" a driver who simply says and does whatever the team wants and is basically a kiss-azz.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Fisichella always had a yearning to drive for Force India! ;)

Seriously, I think most drivers want to get to F1 and then they want to get into a competitive car and they don't care what colour the car is. Massa might have always wanted to be a Ferrari driver, but I bet he'd swap seats with Button for this season if offered!

I suspect that many drivers of a certain age, peers of Stewart through to Irvine, would have had ambitions to drive for Ferrari because when they were growing up Ferrari were pretty much legendary. More recently I think that has probably been less the case, so younger drivers may not feel quite the same about a Ferrari drive, although no doubt many would be very happy to get the chance!

First and foremost drivers want a seat in a car that can win.

If it happens to be with their childhood dream team then it's all the merrier but no driver would want to race there if the car is a piece of junk.

I remember reading somewhere that the first time Rubens saw the F2000 with "his" name on it, he cried.

This is a racing series, all of them WANT to drive, who judges a driver by how happy he seems? lol. If you are going that way, Vettel ftw.

    At this point no.

I think he is one of the best drivers of all time, we have had enough time to make this judgement. He is up there with Prost, Senna, Schumacher. I truly believe in the crap car/great driver test, and Alonso has passed that test very well. But I am not sure that his personality fits the Scuderia. Consider the difficulty with Kimi Raikkonen.

I still have a problem with the fact that he knowingly used the stolen Ferrari documents, and the only thing that saved his butt from suspension was to become a "state's witness" for the FIA.

When Kimi leaves in 2010, if not before, much would depend on who else Ferrari is considering at the time. There is at least one other driver that I would even less like to see at Ferrari. I would prefer they find a young talented driver to compliment Massa.

    Like Vettel.

Ask me near the end of this season.

AFAIK, Kimi wants to drive for the team that: 1. pays the best and 2. has the best chance of winning. Seems like what most RATIONAL human beings would do.

I can live with the fact he used Ferrari material after all this is a controlled war. They all would do it if they had the chance with a good prospect of getting away with it.
What I cant see is selling his comrades down the river. You know the guys that stayed up nights getting a damaged car 100% so that he could go out there and chase an individual WDC. The guys and gals on his crew that catered to his every whim.
    Screwed them. Royally.
