Does anybody know if the drive shaft boots are interchangeable with another brand of car?
I am aware that the CV joints are 930 Turbo. Thank you. Regards, Alberto

    Alberto,
I used the 930 CV Joints on my L series, bought them on ebay, 4 for $130, I bought the CV boots from Patrick at Ferrparts, he always helps
I have a 930 1976 so was lucky enough to try the CV joints before I bought, but they work perfectly, although I did use the L series nuts and bolts, the Porsche uses allen bolts which thread into the drive flange

    Gents,
It's best to check the diameter of the boot flange (not the drive flange that Exact10 alludes to) on each car. My '72 Tipo E Euro surprised me when I replaced the CVs & boots. I had purchased 928 boots, as per the article in the 308/328/Mondial section & other discussions on this forum. They had a rib in the inside of the large diameter (CV end) lip that was supposed to slip into a recess in the stamped metal flange. My flanges did not have that recess, so did not allow a proper fit. I then ordered the 930 boots. No cigar; they did not have the rib, but were too small to fit over my flanges. Hmmm. It seems that a P/O or P/M may have switched the smaller ones for a larger type that doesn't have the recess for the rib in the 928 boot.

After unsuccessfully searching for the correct boot for my seemingly unique application, I decided to carefully 'radius' away the rib (initial cut with single-edge razor & finish shaping with high-speed rotary file) and see if the fit was with minimal/no distortion. The boot had to be very slightly stretched over the flange, but otherwise seemed a good fit. OK. I did the surgery on the other three boots & assembled the works: New CVs, new boots, fresh CV lube, new clamps. I'm pleased with the results.

I don't have any pictures of the process, but go here

where fastradio talks about the flange issue in post #8.

I bought both sets of boots at Pelican Parts. They also have the 930 CVs, too. Great price, fast service, GKN Lobro products.

There are a number of additional threads on this subject. Search "CV" and/or "Boot." As synchro mentioned, lotsa help in the 3x8/M section.

Once again, F-chat to the rescue!
    Good luck,
    Coop
