Greetings all, Just a question for you folks who have driving gloves, or know people who do. What brand or manufacturer do you use or recommend? I guess we can break this down into newer style (nylon or whatever space age fabrics) and old school leather ones. Does anyone recommend any particular ones or glove manufacturers? Has anyone gotten bespoke leather gloves made before and can point me in the right direction? -Matt
I need to break down and get a pair of these too. Every time the topic pops up I research and then decline to follow through. There is a guy on Ebay I wanted to try but havent pulled the trigger. http://stores.ebay.com/leathergloves2013
OK finally followed through. The thought of gloves was fresh in my mind since I had a nice afternoon run in my car. I will report when they come in! Image Unavailable, Please Login
These are my favorite... Had them for years and don't recall where from... Only tag says "Made in England" (but they still work when driving the F-car or one of the P-cars ). Nice on hot days and leather is butter Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Go and get yourself some Madova gloves. Classic, nice, not very expensive. Oh, and you get to go to Florence to get them. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You obviously don't use your car for track days! Mine have holes in the brown and the white is now brown from hairsweat.!
Those look interesting. Please do post a review once you've tried them. I'm glad Matt started this thread because it's something I've been wondering about. I always wear gloves on the track, even on the most informal of days. I used to wear my Nomex gloves on the street when driving serious cars but I don't want to portray that kind of image to the constabulary so now searching for something with a lower profile. Keep the suggestions coming, please.
A pair of Alfred Dunhill string-back gloves my wife bought me about 8 years or so ago. Stylish, don't get too hot, softest leather. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm using POC mountain biking gloves for my "tech fabric" gloves. Example: moist day with the windows open, maybe the temperature isn't right for full gloves, etc. I'll take pics. They're great, but they're not leather. They look like this. http://content.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/POC/POC000Q/BORBL.jpg I'm trying to find nice leather ones, ideally made in a place with good craftsmanship and no exploitation of the workers (don't want to provide any company incentive/reward for shipping away manufacturing jobs, just sayin'). -Matt
I have John Nordstrom's I believe... They fit well, comfy to drive in. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had two pairs...had to return them both after the leather began separating. Beautiful to look at but not well made. Apparently there were issues with their supplier. Excellent customer service though. I believe the company's US operation has since shut its doors. I bought autodromo stringed back instead. Excellent quality. If you do not need a pair of true racing gloves and are just looking for something to improve grip without slip. Go to your local athletic/outdoor store and get a pair of football receivers gloves. Light, tacky texture, great feel, inexpensive.Mine are a Nike brand. GTS Bruce
How true-to-fit are the Autodromo gloves? I measured 8.5in hand circumference, so will the medium be skin tight, or fit just right? I think I'm going with Cognac to try first.
I got these in brown leather at the Ferrari store in Maranello after a factory tour: Ferrari Cavallino Rampante Driving Gloves - Belts and Gloves - Accessories - Man Cost there was 195 Euro less the 20% discount they give you with the factory tour. You can also get some of the 20% VAT refunded if you are from the USA. I am very pleased with them. Italian leather, Ferrari logo, perfect fit and they feel great. Alden
The Ferrari script is on the inside cuff of the glove so no one can tell they are "Ferrari driving gloves." Alden Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
I like fingerless driving gloves. The Ferrari store pair made of deerskin is thick but still really soft. Excellent quality. I use them when I drive my 308, grips great fits well no complaints. http://store.ferrari.com/us_en/man/accessories/belts-and-gloves/men-s-leather-fingerless-driving-gloves.html My other pair which is just generic and very ordinary sheepskin soft leather is badly worn now and due for replacement. Picture taken a couple months ago. Grips great fits ok. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've gone through four sets of traditional driving gloves on the Alfa, since '79. But that's because the Alfa has a varnished wood wheel. In the 328, with a leather wheel cover, I only use gloves when the sun makes the wheel too hot to touch. (I need to put a light colored cloth over the wheel if I park with the top off.) I haven't used any specific "brand" of driving gloves for the Alfa. Just traditional styled leather gloves I'd pick up at a store such as Wilson's Leather.
