I avoid taking my Fcar out if rain is forecast, and for sure would not consider driving in ice or snow.

When I examine my reasons for this behavior, I come up with:

    1) V-12 power + summer tires = lousy traction if the road is not dry;

    2) Ugh, I don't want to have to wash it again; and

    3) Fear of contracting the dreaded "tin worm."

Yes, I know there are folks who drive their cars year round and in all conditions, but so far I've chosen to avoid doing so.

It's still just a car but then again my outlook is different than 90+% of all drivers regardless of the make or model.

Makes total sense. They wouldn't even be fun to drive in the rain. If you drive your car in the rain your paint will never look great. It isn't just water it is the sand and road grit that gets sprayed at the paint under pressure. Once a Ferrari is used like any other car it just becomes any other car.

And what a GREAT other car it is :)

my 360 is my daily, rain or shine and even snow once. The F1 sucks in the snow, I will avoid snow from now on but as long as you are extra careful its not bad. The summer tires also sucked in the snow and I am not about to start swapping tires. In the rain, just be easy with the gas pedal coming out of curves I found out on first day in rain.

Enjoy your Ferrari, its meant to be driven.

To me the coolest thing about driving the 360 in wet conditions.. well it was sprinkling.. is the way that rain drops just "flow" over the car. Its so aerodynamic that the water slips around it. Love it.

Most of the time I just say "Oh sweetie.. I don't want to get you wet." And drive the mini.

Hell, no. That is just the wrong attitude. You may as well not bother with the car at all. Just keep with the poster of it on your bedroom wall.

Rain doesn't bother me, but I won't take it out in snow only because my town and all the towns around me use salt on the roads and no matter how much you spray the undercarriage with a hose, you never get all that salt out.

I have to say the only time I don't love my 308 is in the wet and especially wet nights due to the windscreen reflections. So I avoid taking the car if heavy rain is predicted. BUT where I live, you acn leave home in clear blue skies and arrive in the city 90 later in a hail storm...

Thanks, I really appreciate to hear these words from a Canadian :)

I just received the invitation for the next snow training in January 2014 from my dealer. Will go together with the boyfriend of one of my daughters.

My 612 went out in all sorts of weather. Driving in wet weather was a pain until I fixed the aircon. The car mists up very easily without it. There was only one week when I didn't drive it and that was when we had icy compacted snow on the road. Had withdrawal symptoms from not driving that week.

Upgraded to the FF, so that I don't have to worry about missing that 1 week anymore.

The side of cars do get filthy from the roadspray, but there again I wash my car very often, so it never builds up.

I drive my california in rain or shine .. of course I end up washing it sometimes in the rain so when it goes in the garage it will look good.... do not drive my others in the rain if I can avoid it.(550, Dino , Scud)

Can one get "tin worm" in an aluminum bodied car such as a 458?

If it's galvanized I drive it any time.

Even my 1967 330 GT saw a little snow.

I don't get snow in Florida, but if I tried to avoid rain I wouldn't be able to drive from May to November. Daily afternoon downpours are just a fact of life in a Central Florida summer.

It's not just the Ferrari. Any car, if you drive it on a wet road the way you would a dry road can bite you. Just be aware and drive accordingly.

Oh. And you might have to wash it more often. But then again that's my Saturday morning "automotive therapy" session. So that works for me.
