Must be that time again. What has everyone been listening to while they're out driving those back roads at the posted speed limit and not squealing their tires or leaving a trail of smoke?

    I listen to strange stuff generally;

    Age of Aquarius
    Moi Lolita*
    L'Alize*
    A Contra-Courant*
    Princes of the Universe
    Danger Zone
    Destination Unknown

    *French Pop Songs by Alizée.

As you stated, cruising around in the boonies alters your choice in music. I remember flying through Chatanooga in an SL and Days Of the New's Green Album will never be equaled with those guitar ballads mixed in with the rolling green mountains covered with low clouds. It's total magic...

Lost in Indiana or Ohio and seeing nothing but truckers and pickups, I agree that ZZ top is just plain awesome mixed in with the limitless farm fields.

But if you are cruising around in the city, not so much rice rocket looking for a fight or hot rod looking for a hamburger joint, but in a nice Italian exotic, nothing beats a slow watchful ride while Beyonce's Crazy in Love fights with your exhaust note and tells sidewalk pedestrian traffic that you and your work of art of a car has arrived.

I like instrumental stuff - in particular Joe Satriani "Flying in a Blue Dream", tracks off Steve Vai - "Ultra Zone", and I remember a Jean-Luc Ponty track called "Ethereal Mood" from the late '70s that was particularly nice running up the Columbia Gorge in the middle of the night.

But so far with the 348 I can't be bothered to turn on the stereo as I cannot hear it with the top down anyway.

    Cheers
    Kevin

Depends on what you're looking to get out of the song.

For instance, some songs are good for cruising:

    Santana - Oye Como Va
Beach Boys - I Get Around
Norah Jones - I Don't Know Why(night-time cruising song with top off)
    Anything by Karl Zero
    etc...

Others make me want to race:

    Any Bush song, particularly Glycerine
Stone Temple Pilots - Sex Type Thing
    POD - Alive
    Garbage - Paranoid
Limp Bizkit(don't ask) - My Way
    A lot of the Cardigans
    etc...

And others still are just feel-good happy sing-along songs:

    Beatles - Ob-la-di-Ob-la-da(sp?)
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
    J. Giles Band - My Angel Is The Centerfold
Rod Stewert - All Right Now
    And a ton others
    etc...
