Normally, I'm a bit obsessive about efficiency. When I drive any of the other cars, I ALWAYS navigate so I'm taking the most direct route, shortest time or distance, etc.

When I drive the Ferrari, I ALWAYS take the longest route!

Sometimes I just start driving down (paved) country roads just to see where they go.

Does anyone else have a similar tendency?

    It is pure fun.

It makes you happy and it makes everyone who sees it happy.

    Plain and simple.

I take it out when there is no where to go. I just take it out to drive it.

I had a few family member visit for the weekend. One of the young guys is a die hard car guy, so I took him out in my Scud. You should have seen his face (priceless). I let him drive it for a few minutes, and....These were his own words" today I became a man". It was awesome to share the Ferrari experience with others.

I am absolutely like this. When I am in my wife's hybrid, I baby it, attempting to max out the mileage. Pretty much the exact opposite in the f-car. I've also come to realize that I don't really like driving the car when I have a distinct destination in mind (e.g. work). I prefer to take it on open-ended drives, searching for empty roads.

So basically, 2 hour Starbucks runs when they should be 10 minutes :).

I don't like driving to a specific destination either unless it's a car gathering. Driving to a destination often means leaving the car unattended for minutes/hours which I can't bring myself to do. I just don't trust John Q. Public to respect my car's space.

This weekend, we had friends visit. I took the guy out for a ride while his wife and mine were entertaining the kids. He had a grin ear to ear as I was blasting it through the tunnel near my house. He's hooked.:D

When I'm in my Prius I'm a road maniac. I like to put some metal on loud and see how fast I can drift the rear in turns. Just lift the e-brake slightly. Once.. I had it sliding around a turn at Eighty Miles Per Hour!!!It's not a turn unless you're purpendicular to the line. If I'm really feeling dangerous.. I'll put her into reverse and do donuts in the parking lot. Nothing like a cloud of blue smoke from a hot Japanese commuter car. Air? Oh yeah! 76 on the old kings... 3 feet up baby! Squelching tires when you land like a 737 hitting the runway!

My 360 begins with a gentle baby diaper patdown to remove lint and dust before I take her out. I start the engine and gently let her warm for 3 minutes. Then I back her out and carefull drive down the road obeying all stop signs (you know red car and all). The throttle is carefully depressed and my revs NEVER go beyond 4k. I want to be good to the environment and limit as much wear on the engine as I can before that expensive major. After picking up groceries, I then carefully drive back to the house braking for all children and bike riders in my path. As I pull into the garage I put about 5 miles on the car. I don't want to put any miles on it to affect resale you know.

    (*jk) ;-)

I love driving for hours in different directions on different types of roads. It's even better in a group with friends.

Funny, for reasons unexplained to me, I do not have a desire to push my car to 100 plus mph. The sound of the engine and the performance of the car on the open road gives me the rush I need. Am I alone in with this emotion?
