I am back for another visit to Texas. I called the guys at APEX/Motorsport Ranch to see if I could take some driving lessons (I plan to sneak out while I am at the in-laws). They DO need more people if they are to schedule a class..... Weekends are reserved for club members, but if anyone wants to sneak out for July 14th ....
    -They provide the cars
-Half day class is $350, full day class is $600. I would prefer a full day class.
-They can tailor the instruction. I have done the 1 day Skip Barber street course (Viper autocross section was cool !), a Formula Experience with Russell (thank you, boss), and some club track days and rallies. I am probably a "green" moderate.
-It is a Wed, dood day for calling in sick.
-Facility is 20 miles west of Ft Worth

I wish there was a club like that in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, track time at Sears and Laguna is too expensive to match the regular rates they are oferring. I will move back one day...I spent some time in Arlington and Dallas in the late 80s...UTA, worked in Dallas...

a bit more expensive than I'd want to spend, but then again, it's with a provided car. estimate ~275 for drivers edge events which cover two days (www.thedriversedge.net), however the next event is this weekend or the following will be in september. the other issue here is H E A T and it will be friggin hot out there in July.

good price, indeed.....renting a ferrari in dallas is also another option. I found a place that lends out a 360, but $1200 a day with only 100 miles is silly, if not indecent, in some circles. Galleria Exotic Car Rental did have a 355 Spider listed on their web site for $600 a day, but the guy I got on the phone claimed that he only had a Modena.
If anyone has any leads for July 12-19th around DFW, or events, do send the info along.

Thank you in advance for that famous Texas hospitality.

The guy who runs the Apex school is an F-chatter, Keith Verges. Nice guy and a hell of a driver. Don't know much abot the school but it should be a blast.

It's hard for me to plan that far in advance with my work schedule, but if I am free I'd be happy to take you to the track as a guest that weekend. I just can't commit to anything until a week before or so.
