just curious about how long the driving season lasts in the denver area. is it like the north/northeast, with tons of salt on the roads from november to march? any chance at all to drive during the winter months?

    all responses much appreciated

    Hi John

From about November to March or April, the DOT uses mag-chloride on snowy days -- nasty white stuff that needs to be washed off from the underside of the car etc. Denver has alot of nice days in the winter -- most snow melts away after a couple days. The biggest concern i have is gravel in the winter. I do drive my "toy" year round but do look at how much gravel is lingering before venturing out. In the winter, i will usually get the car out atleast once a month on a nice day.

    thanks

Denver does have sunny days in winter. Plenty of days where it could be in the 60's. The first snow fall on average is November and could snow as late as May. Weather is warm enough to play golf but not drive the Ferrari. Mag Chloride is a necessary nuisance. The bigger problem is the gravel. It stays on the roads long after the snow is gone. The gravel has a mixture of granite. So it can do a lot of damage to windshields and paint.
