I lost my gt and forza sims to hurricane flood and am now ready to replace them. They were about 5 yrs old and i havent kept up with advances.

Whats best way to go now with hardware? I had logitec g25 wheel and sony wireless one. Is there anything that works with both now? Whats good seat frame?

    Thanks

I am sorry to here about your lose. I use a Logitech G27 wheel and peddles, and it is great. I use this setup on a gt5 Playseat. The seat is nice but I'm sure there are nicer out there.

IMO most seats are way overpriced.

Go to your local hardware store and build your own one in a weekend using either G25/27 or the Trustmaster T500 (can buy seperate USB 8 speed H gate if needed).

    Example:

chilicoke's cockpit *03/15 UPDATE: Carbon fiber shifter paddles (pg8) - GTPlanet Forums

obviously you don't have to go as far as this dude with different wheels et all, but the basic frame/idea he has is fantastic. And with the leather he's used it looks very decent indeed...

seems fanatec wheel is compatible with both xbox and ps3 whereas logitec will not work with xbox. its still pretty pricey when you have to pay for pedals too so still close $400.

are there any less expensive options that will work both consoles? there is a ferrari 458 wheel by thrustmaster thats under $100 but dont know how good it is or compatibility.

    thanks

Years ago I built my own out of a steel frame to work with a G27 & the PS3, problem now is my G27 wheel is broken & I've been trying to find a suitable replacement.

I also considered Fanatec but still haven't decided yet, they do at least offer some nice bundle packages that's at a better price point than Logitech.

Vouching for the Fanatec wheel and pedal system. I have the CSR wheel and CSR elite pedals. Great setup for XBOX, PS3 or a computer system.

As for a seat - I have the playseat. It is "ok" and just that. The bar in the middle gets in the way. I've adjusted the pedals - spreading them out (something you cannot do with other pedals) so they are more compliant to my feet. Still not the best, but will have to do. I'd recommend looking for a seat setup that is stable on both sides of your legs, without a post in the middle like the playseat.

I'm using the Logitech G27, its good but not great. Sounds like the Fanatec is the way to go.

I've got my trusty G25 and the Bob Earl MK 1 VRC Bob Earl Racing. I love the seat, Bob is great to deal with and the G25 is pretty good. Not a huge fan of the pedals though.

just put together the game but cant get the fanatec forza wheel to connect wireless with xbox. the xbox controller connected without issues but cant figure out how to do the wheel.

also how should you connect the wheel to the pedal set. there are several wires that fit the green connector.

i emailed fanatec but havent responded in over a week and i cant find a phone # to call.

thanks for any help, im getting frustrated with this

Connectors: Green to Green. They are PS2 connectors. Not playstation, but PS2 as in the old keyboard/mouse connectors. There's purple to purple as well. This should be the same among the fanatec line, but, I'm only familiar with the CSR and CSR Elite models.

With the shifter set, I don't bother. It can be flimsy off to the side, so I just opt for paddle shifting even though I have the gated and sequential shifters.

As for xbox, you need to sync it up. Locate the manual and follow along. Or use their forums to find the info you need.

    Manuals: Fanatec North America
Forums: Fanatec wheel fansite forums - Index

Don't bother with customer service. When and if you get a response, go out and buy a lottery ticket. It will be your lucky day.
