If you're planning on going to Amelia Island in March, keep in mind I'm getting a group together again to make a fun road trip out of it. We are going to be leaving a meeting spot (TBD) somewhere around Virginia Beach/Chesapeake the morning of March 7th, heading to Wilmington, NC for a garage tour/party that evening, then continuing on from there to Savannah, GA for more of the same the evening of the 8th, then arriving Amelia Island on Thursday the 9th around mid-day. (Actually, there is a group starting from Cape Cod, MA a couple of days before to meet up with us as well.) I'm driving my 308, but like last year there will be a lot of different types of cars on the adventure down, and we'll be off the main highways as much as we can. Last year we did a lot on 17, plus fun country roads from VA to NC. I'll be getting a list of likely hotels you can make arrangements with, so everyone can try to stay in a group if they like. Anyway, all are invited and hope to see you.

Awesome idea. Not sure I could spend that much time in my 308 though.
    I'm flying down.

Just checked and note that the host hotel is booked and some of the events are wait-listed. Better not delay! Fortunately, the Ritz does list about a dozen alternate hotels, Jacksonville airport ironically being the closest (14 miles).

It is good you are concentrating on back roads.

I make the trip often between Virginia and Florida and offer a few comments. I-95 is horrible- 4-lanes in NC and SC and lots of trucks; Georgia and onward is 6-lanes, but Georgia doesn't have any rest stops. The Florida welcome center offers free orange juice, but is crowded because of the lack of rest stops in Georgia. I may come up from Sarasota for one of the days depending on the wife's schedule.

    Hope the caravan goes well.
