So can anybody direct me to some recent pictures of 3611? Before passing judgment I would like to hear the complete story about 3611. Perhaps it was a gte which had massive rust or been rolled. Tom W
Here are a couple of shots of what I think is 1717gt, one of the prettiest of the Drogos. IMHO. 2004 FCA, Monterey, Ca. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ed, this is indeed 1717 GT. And for 3611: it started off as a 250 GTE. Later it was rebodied by Drogo with the body that was on GTO 3445 GT. It also doesn't have it's original engine, now it has engine # 7677 (275 GTB), its original engine is in 3675, another GTE massacred (500 TRC replica)

This alleged replica Drogo body was fitted to a 250 GTE chassis by GTO Engineering for Nathan Kinch, who 'found the body in a barn in England'. Seen here at Silverstone in 2007. I include these photos with some trepidation, as in an earlier thread some very negative opinions were expressed and doutless they will be again! John: It's a handsome car in my opinion - a pleasing combination of 250 GTO and long nose 275 GTB styling. Sad that a GTE was sacrificed in the process though. The real problem that I have, however, is with your decision to insert it into this thread about period rebodies performed by Carrozzeria Drogo. This car has nothing to do with the Drogo-bodied cars and any photos/discussion of it belongs in the "Recreations & Non-Period Rebodies" subforum. Posting pics of 2391GT in this thread, especially considering the discussion that we've had on this car in the past, can only be interpreted as either an act of carelessness or a deliberate attempt to stir things up.
Knowing John I don't think there was any ill intent. Otherwise you're correct of course and this car doesn't belong here. Best, Peter
Wayne It's unfortunate that you should attach that interpretation to an effort to ensure completeness, particularly as I acknowledged the question in my caption. Feel free to move the post or delete it if you prefer. My thanks to Peter for his words of support. John
Hey, you're a friend of Peter's and a GTC owner to boot! I'm sure I misjudged your intent - my apologies for doing so. Of course, the car doesn't belong here and it's misleading for either the owner of the car or the shop who installed this body to suggest that it had anything to do with Drogo (other than "possibly inspired by"), but I'll just leave it here for the time being and we can move on. By the way, feel free to start a thread about 2391GT in the "Non-Period Rebodies" subforum. As I said, it's a good looking car and I'm sure you'll draw a positive response there.
