    Sometimes I see the term "drop down main gear". Can someone tell me what this means? I am new to the Ferrari world.

    Spur gear in a transmission. Look up spur gear in any mechanical/machine design book.

    They're used in many Ferrari transmissions.

    AKA drop gear.
