dropping testarossa motor from top or bottom .

    question, has anyone took out motor from the top on 87 testarossa , or is it just easyer from bottom , i am aircraft mechanic i am looking at doing the belts , what equipment is needed , and any one with pictures please it would help , best to all thank you

    Hello. Have you done a search? There is a really really good thread here where a fchatter does his belts and cleans his engine up. Its a good thread. Do a search and look for it. Has pics and all. :):)

    The TR engine/gearbox can be removed out the top if you take the clutch off first, but I'm not sure if it's any less or more work than dropping the whole subframe. The shop doing my last major took it out the top, but my guess is that they were more interested in leaving the rear wheels on so they could move the chassis around rather than tie up a lift. My TR with the engine/gearbox out, but with the subframe and rear suspension still in place:

    Is there more chance for damage to the wide rear quarters when pulling it from the top or is there no difference? Just curious......

    About the same but it comes out the bottom easier and faster.
