our Oglethorpe Driving Society had meet today, an i was invited by a friend to take a spin in his stunning new to him Jarama!

i was really impressed with the feel and luxury of a car. a GT cruiser it is, but it did not feel ungainly or hard to manage at speed. the sound at full revs gave me hallucinations of what a Countach must sound like.

the car had great road manners and was not at all hard to drive. visibility is great, the gauges are in a normal configuration, and the car reminded me of a very grown up Urraco. it was a real treat to be handed the keys today.

    Thank you Brian D. . :)

also are a few pics of the Fiat 130 coupe, and a few of the other cars there today. we all wanted rides in the copter, but were content to feel and hear the F1 race in the homeowners enormous air conditioned "spare" theater/bar/garage area!

    Jarama is my favorite Lamborghini.

    It was Ferruccio's too. :)

If you now drive a Miura or lp400 you will be disappointed by how uncomfortable and noisy and hot these cars are. (Just ask Joe Sackey)

They were build for looking at.

The Jarama was built to drive and enjoy.

    Jarama rules!

I concur, the Jarama is very underappreciated. A nice driving car and a real "sleeper".

Most people have no idea what is under the hood.

Cool pics Michael. But the design of the Jarama interior is so kit car like compared to the Fiat. It's like there was no project money left when they got around to do the dashboard.

The Fiat was built by a massively bigger company in far greater numbers. It made no sense to injection mold dashboard parts when you're only building a few hundred cars.

i had to admit to the owner of the Fiat when it was delivered and i saw it inside in the shop, along with all the other cool metal these guys have, that i did not like the car.

however, when i saw it outside in the sunlight, flanked bythe Lamborghini , and the 914-6, i ummm, changed my mind. there are some styling clues on the coupe, that hail Bertone's other cars. besides Fiat 130 coupes in the USA are very rare, much less a correct all euro car that has been so well done.

by the way , i am not much in to Toyota's anymore, but that Supra belonged to some Supra message board owner, and has over 1000 real wheel horse power.

many of us like different cars for different reasons, but we all recognize cool when we see it. that Supra is seriously cool!

i am hoping to take some pics of JFrazars Urraco p250 and Mr D's Jarama together sometime soon. Joe owns the 914-6 and drove it to share with us.

its like a small Can Am car.... !!!

  7. The 130 Fiat has the Dino engine if anyone doesn't know. The silver on the Jarma looks really cool.

you ar right, it the same 6 cyl the 206/246 series has.

its slow at work today so i came home. :)

the Jarama weighs less than an ESPADA, so i am assuming the Espada would have more of a heavy GT feel to it.

Both the Miura and Countach have many positive attributes. They serve a purpose, for short exhilarating drives. Actually between the two, the Miura, is easier to live with around town. At 5' 6" I can drive or ride anything.

I have not had an opportunity to drive a Jarama. I have already posted my desire, to find a nice Jarama. I do not have any stick time with the Jarama. However it has all the goods, if you read the spec sheet. It is a bargain pure Italian GT. Best of all, it is a real 4 liter Lamborghini !!

    Michael

Congrats on the rides. For a moment I thought the Fiat, was a speciale 412 2+2. It sure has similar lines.

What year is the Euro 930 ??? Nice looking 914-6.

How does the Jarama shift ? How are the throws ? Does it have fairly short throws ? I love a bizarre Italian dash.

Jarama = bargain hand-built and exclusive pure exotic Italian GT.

the green euro 911 Carrera is mine, but its not a turbo.

the brown 930 is a USA spec car that belongs to one of the founding members of the club. i think its an 89.

the Jarama shifted great, the clutch feel was consistent and not too firm through out its travel. you could easy feel its sweet spot to ease into traffic or add speed when needed. i do like the fact its not a dogleg pattern like the ferraris. it felt more natural to go straight back into 2nd.

the throws were long, but you knew where you were going by feel. it was easy to drive and see out of. the steering is a bit heavy and "loose" but i dont know what condition the front end is in. overall it was a great cruising car.

the dash really reminds me of a grown up Urraco. the p300 Urraco got the much improved Silhouette dash. the P111 and P250 have the space pod dash thats a pain in the butt to use as a driver needs to. but its part of the charm , i guess.
the Jarama is all Lamborghini, and even has the idiot light panel in the center of the gauges , like the Jalpa and Countach.

i dont know i would buy an Espada or a Jarama though. i keep having delusions on what a Countach must be like, after getting a taste of that V12 at 6500.

i have no clue what to get next.

  19. The jarma would be a good one. What happened to a Lotus? A Pantera is a great choice. I love mine, and for the money they are hard to beat. A Viper is pretty cool. Maybe a Maserati Bora? Any old Astons still cheap? Maybe go ahead and get a Countach (or a 512BB) , even if it hurts a little. A Testarossa could be nice.

i am still going to get a Lotus. i missed a nice blue S4S is Florida for $28k. called today and it was gone.

i would love to chat with an Islero owner about life with one as a weekend car.

Jalpas and Urracos are nice, but unless a euro one comes up for around $25-$28k or so, i would rather buy something with a 12 in it, and do some learning.

i have not seen any Astons or Panteras in my price range. i dont care for Vipers or the NSX. i want what i want, not because its "fast" . :)

my 911 may be sold.... waiting for the money, and you know how that goes sometimes.

914-6 conversion, or does he just have a later 1973/74 front bumper on it (can't see the back so I can't tell if it's a '73 or '74)? Very nicely done car with the fenders and the sidemarker delete!!! What motor is in that thing?

    a) i dont know, i dont know much about 914's, i do know this one is really fast, and needs a rollbar before he rips it apart!

    3) motor is a 3.0 with reworked webbers, hot cams, flattop forged pistons, and other goodies.

pm JoeFrazar, as i am sure he would share his info with you.
