http://images.google.ch/images?q=mor...ges&c t=title http://news.caradisiac.com/Nouvelle-Morgan-Aero-8 I went to Geneva this week-end and among other things, test drove this baby. Unfortunately My cell phone refuses to transfer pics to the computer, so I'll use stock pictures. It was Dark Grey with butterscotch interior and side exhausts. I did not have a very long test drive, but it gave me a pretty good basic idea. First, the looks... Short of pulling up in a Veyeron, Enzo or Millenium Falcon, nothing equals this car. It is actually pretty large and has a lot of street presence. The cross eyed look has been eliminated for a more conventional approach. However visibility is pretty rubbish and it is VERY hard to judge the dimensions of the car on the road. Forget parallel or ANY kind of parking. The driving position verges on dangerous. Since the pedals are too far away, you are forced to sit with an airbagged steering wheel pressed to your chest. Engine. BMW 4.4 liter and gearbox. Sounds VERY raw, who knew BMW engines can sound like a Spitfire fighter on Nitro. Every car on the road turns into a Messershmidt and it's your duty to chase them off the road for the glory of Queen and Empire. The whole car vibrates wildly with every throttle prod. The only downside is the ridiculously heavy clutch. It is either on or off and after a week of use, your left leg would be twice as big as your right. I stalled twice. Brakes... AP racing in front, Brembos in the back. VERY "bity" you need to get used to them. Driving. Very sharp steering, only 2 turns lock to lock. Weighs barely more then an Elise but has a mighty V8. Did not really push it, so won't form a definetive opinion. Verdict. 150K CDN. For those who are bored with their stable of Ferraris and Lambos. Even in Monaco you WILL stand out. VERY exciting to drive, although it's no track car. Oh yeah, and watch out for thermites, the frame is made from Ash wood.
Interesting, thanks for the report. I've been curious about this car for a while. I haven't seen one in person, but from the pictures... I think I'd prefer to stick to the more traditional Plus 8. Still, would love to have the chance you did and get a drive.
Yes, there's a place in California that imports them (http://www.morgancars-usa.com/), but in very limited quantities. Last I'd heard there's a very long waiting list. It'd actually probably be quicker and cheaper for me to fly to the UK and try one than to California
had one for review, fun, nice sound, nice power, great handling... Fit and finish of a schizophrenic mechanic suffering from Parkinson's disease. Passenger side window split and cracked in a corner, Little torque flex? More character than 20 other cars but not necessarily in a good way
There's a used one available in Palm Beach... http://www.chariotsofpb.com/main.php/inventory/detail?car_id=1500 And a new one available in July... http://www.chariotsofpb.com/main.php/inventory/detail?car_id=1794
In Gumball 2006, I think Tony Hawk was driving one. It was either a Morgan or a Wiesman GT. I don't know where I was/am going with that.
