I love Porsches so not knocking them. I have a 18 MacanS and I had a 79 Turbo with modified lowered suspension, 18"rims, more boost, bigger intercooler and turbo. When I drove that car I thought it cant get any better than this and maybe I should get rid of the 355. But honestly, when I got into the F355, I liked it better. It seemed as fast, braked and handled better, the size of the car felt better to me. If you do a few things to the 355, it really is an awesome car. You gain so much more performance in handling, braking and throttle response than the stock car. To me everybody overlooks the potential performance of the 355 and just concentrates on the sound of the engine. I agree with Claudio. Porsches are becoming more like high reving Ferraris and Ferrari is becoming more like Porsche.

In early 1995 I went with a friend to look at a Porsche he was thinking of buying. When I saw the car, my jaw dropped, it was a black 993 with a grey leather interior. I had never seen the new 993 and I couldn’t believe how amazing those curves looked and I ended up buying that car. I loved it and was so proud of it. A couple of years later a friend of mine bought a 355. It was a Rosso Corsa and crema 355 gts. I think this was probably 1996 or 1997. It was my first ride in a Ferrari and I remember being amazed by the sound of that engine. I couldn’t believe how that 5 valve per cylinder engine screamed! We ran backwards and forwards thought a tunnel listening to that amazing sound. I was hooked, possibly in the same way you are now. The 355 is a glorious car, with a glorious design. Ultimately I owned 3 355s “in period”, this car plus two different spiders that were both blu tdf and tan. The owner of my first car tracked me down and offered me the car just recently actually. Given that this was in England I didn’t have much use for a right hand drive car this side of the pond otherwise I might have been tempted. What I found amazing is that I sold the car for about 98,000 pounds in 1998 and today that was almost exactly what the car was worth in pounds.
Anyway I digress, if you love the car, buy it!
