.....and what a MONSTER!!!! This particular car ('05 model with e-gear) was no shrinking violet (even by Murcielago standards): pearlescent white with red/black interior, and a LOUD sports exhaust with almost no silencing. You wouldn't believe how many girls of ages 13 to 80 stopped, looked, smiled and a few of them were quite eager to step in for a ride!!!! :) I recommend the Murci to any guys who are coming out of a rocky relationship - this car will restore self-confidence like no shrink ever will! :)

Onto the serious stuff: the engine sounds better than any Ferrari V12 this side of an Enzo, loud, angry, deep-chested and incredibly reactive to the throttle. On the move, the Murci feels heavy and unwieldy, but it's just a first impression: I found that if you just ignore its size and drive it aggressively, it shrinks around you like the Gallardo, and the engine has so much torque that you never feel the weight of the car.

For what I can tell handling is OK but probably not on a par with the Gallardo - the Murci's engine seems to sit very high and I suspect the center of mass is considerably lower in the Gallardo. As a consequence, it is easier to swing the Murci rear-end into a blood-chilling pendulum than on the better balanced Gallardo. However, drive it gently and it can be used in city traffic all day; drive it at 8/10ths and it will reward you with great fun in total safety. Just don't explore the last 2/10ths too often...

On the whole, I loved the Murcielago for its presence, its noise, that engine and because it represents all that a Lamborghini should be. However, would I buy it over a Gallardo? Only if money was absolutely no object and all rationality had been jettisoned from my brain. But then, who wants to be rational about supercars?

The Murcielago is Hypercar territory, not supercar. IMHO.

They are quit a bit expensive to maintain, right? The new LP640 is so much nicer looking than the older Murcielago's.

How do they compare to a S7? I was told the S7 is a great weekend short trip car but not for more than hour or two juants.....Are S7's rwd or awd?

no comparing....S7 is a true race car and is something that is totaly different to drive. Ive driven 3 Saleen S7 now, loved all of em, both N/A and TT. but at same point, isnt that safe either.

As for comfort I rode shotgun in one for 3 hours, was soooo happy to get out.

They both have their pros and cons.

Personally Ill take a murci any day for pratical use...but a s7 for the looks.

Also... the leg rooms SUCKS ASS

I'm sure that the S7 would be a real b**** to drive around town, plus that interior seems a bit too understated.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I'm surprised to hear people that the running costs on their Murci were comparable to those of their 360 Modenas... here in Europe I always hear a totally different story: that Murcielagos are complicated to work on, that the parts are expensive, etc. etc. while F360/F430s are the cheapest Ferraris to run ever, and reliable too. Now, if the running costs of a Murci on a mileage of 3000 per year were the same as a Modena's, I'd seriously consider to get the Murci I deserve... :)

Without question the 360 and 430 are the most reliable F-cars to date.

However, I would never use the word "cheap" as far as maintenance goes with exotics.

Having owned both the 360 Modena and a Murcielago I would have to say the cost to maintain is similar. Here in California (exotic city) the hourly rate by certified Lambo and Ferrari dealers is just about the same and as far as parts go; both cars will take you to the cleaners :)

    Gotta love these Exotics :)
