    So I was driving by Ferrari of Palm Beach today and figured I’d pull in to see if they had any 296’s on the lot. To my surprise, they had one with Assetto Fiorano package right out front. And as luck would have it, Bud Root, one of the sales reps was getting out of it.
    I hadn’t seen him in probably a year and he asks, “Want to take it for a drive?”

    UMMM SURE - TWIST MY ARM!

    Was not expecting it…and I didn’t have a lot of time because I had to pick up my daughter from school…but I couldn’t pass this up.

    My 296 is supposed to arrive in 4th qtr this year so I was curious on so many levels.

    Would it live up to my expectations???

    I literally took a 10 minute drive so my feedback is short and sweet…

    SUPER FAST AND RESPONSIVE…
    EXHAUST SOUND IS LIGHT YEARS BETTER THAN THE F8…although still could be louder…
    AND OVERALL THE CAR SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE ITS MODERN…

    And when I say modern, it’s the same feeling I got going from the 430 to my 458…

    Now I’m even more excited for mine to arrive!

    I’ve had my 296GTB for about 2 weeks now and it is insanely fun. The interior cockpit is thoroughly modern. Once u get a hang of how to work it, super gentle touch VS poking or pressing, it feels quite natural. Do not expect to be comfortable with it in first drive, it takes done getting used to. Think going from BlackBerry with keyboard to iPhone.

    After 4 weeks I am 70% sure I know how to start and move :) … the two press sequence is odd and harks back to key based ignition days. All cars with start button fire right up with one push / press. Why Ferrari decided on two touches I don’t understand.

    Most two push sequences on anything these days is to prevent an unintended, inadvertent action.
