As far as I can remember from my F8 test drive- it revs to 8k and the rear window was not a problem whatsoever to see out of- so don't skip the F8 coupe because of the rear window- I say get it because of the rear window!

I want to drive it but haven't had a chance but as you pointed out I am big fan off the 720 and really miss my Spider which just sold. I am itching for another.

I would like you to drive it because I always hear conflicting reports on whether the 720 has turbo lag or not. The F8 has ZERO turbo lag, some say the 720 does while others say it doesn’t. No doubt the 720 is wicked fast, but I think the F8 is way better looking at least from the front. I like the 720 from the side and rear but don’t love the front.

The 720 has virtually no lag, the power comes on hard and fast. You feel like you are being transported, its kind of crazy. If the F8 drives like the Pista then it has no lag at all. Other than sound you really dont know there are turbos on the Pista. It is also super fast but feels different from the 720.

If it helps, a friend of mine who races a 599XX described the F8 as being decent feeling laterally but softer than his 488 vertically. Less roll more bounce if that make sense. However the power feeling very similar to the Pista without the sportiness in the suspension and steering. He has more experience than I do racing so I respect his feedback.

No lag in the 720 unless you are in auto mode driving in the comfort setting at 30mph.

All DCTs feel laggy driving slow in auto mode if you punch them from a low RPM. Modern automatic transmissions have a real advantage here. Even my NSX which benefits from the electric torque feels laggy and slow if I drive like this.

WOW , I apologize!!! Posted this in the F-8 thread:
Drove the F8 today and am very relieved with the sound issue. Autocar describes it best. Having owned the 458 and 488, the 458 was the best while the 488 was less but still acceptable. While others have stated, outside is quieter but inside the hot tube system saves the day. I encourage all to test for yourself as it's quite enjoyable and worth your time.
Some further thoughts are the following: If someone said I could only have the F-8, I would be thrilled. If someone said I could only have the 812, I would be thrilled.
I'm 50-50 now. I drove the F-8 in one session but the 812 twice. The sound is no longer a deal breaker but to drop $100K on the upgrade to the F-8 seems like less value. This same thought was voiced by another 488 owner.
I am looking at used 812's and have chosen options if I were to build a 2020. When I sent my deposit in for the F-8, I was told my car was worth $260-265k. No longer it this the case. I am proceeding slowly as if I decide to order an 812, it will not be difficult to get a quick build. I do not really want to order the F-8 and have the 812 in the back of my mind. The 812 sound is what I think current Ferrari's should sound like.

I prefer the Superfast but I think if you are thinking of ordering a new 812, you should be giving serious consideration to the GTS.

At this late date, the only way I would order an 812 is if I were super picky about the spec. Tons of tremendous value in the secondary market. Keep in mind, I own an 812 and I adore it.

Yes and no. Let's face it, it's not really the car you'd take to a knife fight - i.e take to mix it up with an F8, 488, Pista or Gt Porsche through a mountain pass so you may as well get some wind in your hair and listen to the v12 while you play catch up and just enjoy the experience a car like that has on offer.

812 style wise has really grown on me. But it’s nowhere near as attractive as the Tributo.

Another thing nice: no more soft touch finishes to get sticky!

Because until this model, ever other car used soft touch material that eventually gets sticky and gooey. Even 458s are starting to have this problem. Not having this on the F8 is a plus.

The F8 does not have soft touch material on the buttons? I did not know that!

The real problem evaluating the F8, most drives are only 5 miles +/-. Very hard to experience the car in many driving conditions. It did solve my concern about the sound.
