.... and now I want to drive my Quattroporte off a cliff.

First, the car is absolutely stunning in person. The blacked out pillars are nearly unnoticeable and the interior is the most beautiful on the market this side of an Arnage IMHO. Everything seems to be screwed together much tighter than in other recent Jags. I couldn't believe the MSRP was shy of $80k... really good value for money in this segment.

The light weight of the XJ really shines through as far as the drive goes. I was piloting a standard XJ L with 19" wheels and it feels and handles almost identically to an XK. Acceleration in this model was adequate in that it gathered speed much in the same way as an S550. The Jag rep informed me that the supercharged version feels like a completely different car and also comes with the same rear diff as the XK R. He also hinted at the possibility of a new XJR coming in 2012.

The navigation system was great other than the touch screen delay. A secondary nav display appears next to the speedometer in the same manner as the Panamera. The stereo is great.

If anyone is in the market for a sedan you should give it a serious look.

I went on a factory tour a few weeks ago.

Me and my father both agreed that whilst it's a gorgeous car, it's pretty pointless when you could have an XF for much, much cheaper.

It feels smaller inside the normal car than an XF (didn't get to sit inside the L version), the dash whilst lovely to look at, isn't as well designed as the XF's, and the touch screen is less intuitive to use.

The boot was a crucial point, in the normal one you'd struggle to fit one set of golf clubs in, and definitely wouldn't get an electric trolley in purely because the size and shape of the aperture is poor.

You're getting the same engines in both as well.

Plus it's around £20,000 more expensive, so aside from it being a status symbol I wouldn't get one.
