Dual citizenship ???

So Lamour, are you trying to reside on two boobies? One for the weekdays, the other for the weekend?

 

have a friend who is dual citizen of US and Switzerland. Only real pros for him is family heritage/identity and having a Swiss passport, which is basically a get out of customs free card. I'm not sure of any major cons, other than some extra paperwork when he became a US citizen (like 20 yrs ago).

 

US for sure but you already have that one I assume

I'd go for an EU passport to be able to live/work in Europe but mainly to transmit the citizenship to my kids. Spain and Germany are my options due to my family descent but the rules keep changing.

In my group of friends many of our children have two or even three citizenships (mine only two), mostly Mexican / American / Spanish, and some French / German. I live in Mexico though.

 

Not officially dual citizenship, but I got an OCI a little while back (Overseas Citizen of India)

essentially makes the commute a bit easier (less hassle with customs etc) plus get small benefits here and there I guess

Big advantage of having citizenship with a country in the EU is being able to work and reside indefinitely. Short line going through customs. Any citizens of Monaco?

 

from what I recall there are less than 1000 citizens of Monaco, and its basically a birthright (no naturalization procedures)

 

I got 3 - UK, Russia and Turkmenistan

Could say, the passports do come in handy occasionally lol

My wife has dual citizenship (Can-Brasil) and it makes travelling around the world easier from a VISA standpoint, as many countries require one or the other nationality to enter VISA free, so she can pick and choose how she travels. Also, if your domicile country has a tax treaty with the other, you can repatriate income freely. Americans are screwed though as you are taxed on your worldwide income.

 

I have decided to apply for a Green Card when i'm fully qualifyed, I should get in because UK qualifications are so good, it's just a matter of when.

 

I will apply for a green card too like you, with the difference I'm Italian.
In each case I will hopefully start looking for a job in the states next year, hoping the car market gets better
