I really, really want this DA to get what's coming to him. This guy is a phukin LIAR and deserves, in my opinion, to be held indefinitely in a federal pound me in the ass prison. He ruined these peoples' lives IMO.

I think the outcome for the accuser should be of far darker consequence.

Jan. 12, 2007— District Attorney Mike Nifong has requested that he have himself removed from prosecuting the Duke Lacrosse rape investigation, ABC News has learned.

A source close to the investigation said Nifong sent a letter to North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper asking his office to assume responsibility of the case.Calls to the Attorney General's office and Mike Nifong's office were not yet returned.

Three Duke Lacrosse players, Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and David Evans were indicted in 2006 on charges of rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping.

The rape charges were dropped in December after the accuser could not recall key details of the alleged attack.

It doesn't look like all charges dropped and I guess there will be a trial on the other matters. I think these kids lives are ruined as well. I hope they beat the rap and some how can lead a normal life.

On one hand, the DA appears to be an idiot, but on the other hand, he can only go by what the 'victim' said in her affadavit/police report.

If there was NO dna, that should have been a clue in itself. Something reeked from this story from day one, maybe he saw too many episodes of 'Law and Order/Special Victims Unit'.

The only reason that he brought charges in the first place was to gain reelection by pandering to the large number of minorities in the district. I think that he thought that these boys would roll over and take a plea to avoid court...no such luck. I think that these young men should sue the DA the accuser as well as the commonwealth. It has been a clusterfu*k since the begining. These type of things should not happen in the United States.

He can go by a lot more than that. It is incumbent on the police and the prosecutors office to confirm a crime has been commited or has probably been commited before making charges. There is a lot more to making a good charge than a victim statement. His move was political, pure and simple.

He picked on some kids in a good private school. I hope like hell their parents have the money and the stones to go after this jerk. By reelecting that flake the people of that county deserve to have to pay for those three to get a good head start on their retirement fund.

The Duke Lacrosse players are not innocent choir boys in all this.

One or more are most likely guilty of the crime. Women, esspecially prostitutes don't scream "RAPE" without good reason. It's not prudent for business.

But it's what you can prove, not what really happened.

Now that those boys will be exonerated watch for the bad ones will be free to rape again now that they think they can get away with it. It's just a matter of when.
Don't cheer to loudly, next time it could be a woman you know.

Might as well move this thread to P&R too.

Dave have you read any of the facts in this case. All these kids are guilty of is getting drunk and hiring two strippers and then yelling some really stupid comments as they were leaving. Here are just a few of the FACTS

Durham police said the accuser “kept changing her story and is not credible,” reporting that she initially told them she was raped by 20 white men, later reducing the number to only three.

Another police report states that the accuser initially claimed she was only groped, rather than raped, but changed her story before going to the hospital.

Defense lawyers have said that the accuser did not consistently choose the same three defendants in the photo lineups. Evans’ lawyer said there were two photo lineups, and in the first one his client was not chosen at all.

Finnerty’s lawyer, on the other hand, more recently claimed there were at least six photo lineups.

A police report released June 23, 2006, said that she initially claimed she was “attacked by five men […] and changed her story several times.”
In its own investigation, The News & Observer, North Carolina’s second largest newspaper, determined that the accuser gave at least five different versions of the alleged rape to police and medical interviewers. She also made unclear identifications of suspects in the lineups.

The second stripper who performed at the house, Kim Roberts, said that the accuser was not raped. She stated that the accuser “obviously wasn’t hurt … because she was fine.” Likewise, she refuted other aspects of the accuser’s story including denying that she helped dress the accuser after the alleged incident and saying that they were not forcefully separated by players like the accuser.

Now she is saying Reade Seligman just watched because he said he was getting married. This was a guy earlier she said was 100% certain raped her. It looks to me like the woman's story just took on a life of its own and now she is to deep to really tell the truth.

I can understand trama can cause some poor memories but there is a point where you have to look at the facts and see these kids are clearly the victims in this case.

Not true. This happens more than you think. Look at the University of Colorado football "scandal". No charges were ever filed and thanks to manipulation of the media, the players still have the accusatations hanging over thier heads. The accuser told the police it was some "big black guys" and proceeded to identify players that were not even on campus at the time as suspects. The accuser had hired a PR firm that did a great job of casting aspersions on the football program. The only difference is that the charges were leveled against kids that didnt have the resources available that the Duke Kids had.

    Like the McMartin pre-school.

60 minutes will have the Duke kids parents on tomorrow night. One of the mothers said to Leslie Stahl about the scumbag D.A. "You will pay for this every day for the rest of your life"

Based on your post, you sound like you were there.

If Nifong does this to privileged men with money, imagine what he does with the poor who can't afford to fight him.
