I bought a DVD in the UK...........unfortunately not thinking!! Is there any way to manipulate it to make it North American viewable? Thanks for any input. Chas
it's not necessarily the computers that are region free, it is the player itself. the dvd player doesn't have a region set to it. however, older dvd players in computers required a decoder card. that decoder card was there because there wasn't enough cpu power to decode the dvd and it was region specific. with software dvd players out there, the region can be 'manipulated', but typically with retail software and not hack-ware, you'll only be able to change it up to 5 times before it is locked out.
You need to manipulate your DVD player, not the DVD. Go to www.nicheflix.com ===> Forums ===> Region Free DVD Players Read all about it.
Depending on your player you may be able to change to region free in the service setup. I've seen writeups on the net and did it on one of my dvd players. Post the make / model
I've searched for your model and couldn't find any simple remote code to "region free" it like mine. Here is another site with info but my advice is just buy the dvd in the correct region and don't mess with this unless you plan on buying more dvds of diff regions. http://www.dvdcodes.net/panasonic/panasonic60-69.htm
