Has anyone tried to re-dye faded automotive carpets? I have a project with carpet in good condition except for sun fading. (And deer blood stain that leaked around the cargo mat. Yuck)

I see DIY kits and aerosols, just wondering if they can do a quality job.

    Thanks

I used Leatherique products to re dye my leather seats and carpet on my 328 GTS..

I took one of my floor mats to them and they matched the dye perfectly.

The method I used was to clean the carpet with warm water, let it dry and then
apply the dye in circular motions with a rag.
I masked all areas that I didn't want the dye to touch.

Let it dry and then redo....

I was very happy with the results.

    Cheers,

    Geoff.

I've used the spray areosols on my vintage corvettes with great success. Those were black carpet and I just touched up some sun fade (sun turns black kinda purple).

Freshening up (not changing) color you should get pretty good results which both spray and liquid forms.

With tan or a lighter color you should do a pretty good cleaning first. I need to do this on my 348 as it's got good carpet, but needs a freshening.

At the end of the day whats the worst that could happen... have to buy a new set of carpet, so why not give it a try.
