So I decided to do some of the basic maintainance stuff on my 308 QV myself. Right now I have a fuel leak somewhere and I have to track it down and replace the hose or what ever is leaking. 1985 US version QV. Any advice guys? Whats the best way to get the car up off the ground to work on it, floor jack? Is there anywhere I can get a book that is more specific then my owners manuel? Anybody put out a book or video on the 308 QV?

Get a 308 workshop manual and a parts manual, e bay will have both. Its about all you will need except a lift or a pit. I wouldn't even attempt to do service on a 308 if you can't stand under it.

Found the best jacking point is the factory pad on either side, besides that means u can lift a whole side at once. Definetely a floor jack & jackstands. Leak is probably one of the crossover, fuel neck or vent hoses.
Manual available by cd or free on web somewhere. Search & yee shall find.

I have the manual that came with the car. It is pretty detailed. I have read on this site the the "Service Manuels" are almost identical to the owners manual. Any truth to this?? Also is the Owners manual the best one can do for repairs. How do the Ferrari Mechanics learn this stuff?? Thank you for the tips also on what the fuel leak can be. I have stored several parts suppliers www adress on computer from this site so I should be able to find the replacement hoses. Any one know a fix for the windows (Rolling up too slow)Any one got a good line on a replacement air conditioner/Heater unit that works well in these cars (I will have a mechanic do this stuff) Who makes good hoses, air conditioners, high performance plug wires ect for the 308 qv? There has to be someone out there making some cool after market high performance parts for what Ferrari lacks (ie:air conditioners)

What you want for the DIY (or even for a carry-it-to-the-mechanic) is the Mondial QV workshop manual... it is much more detailed than the regular 308 manual and most of the mechanicals are the same. When I first purchased my 308QV I called Ferrari of Atlanta to buy a service manual, and that's what they recommended so I bought it and have gotten a LOT of use out of it. I later bought the actual 308QV/328 workshop manual and I see why they consider it nearly useless, but if you want you can see an online backup copy of it at http://ferrari.jenkins.org/books/308QV_328_workshop.pdf
