There is no reason to do a piggy back fuel controller unless you are, um, adding more fuel. Since we have not really undertaken an intake mod yet, this ground is yet to be covered. Believe me, I am still very much interested in an intake system redo. I firmly believe we've done all we can with the exhaust side. Once we figure out how we are goiong to get more air and fuel in, we'll look at piggy-backs. Hmm, how about a light turbo. Heh, I still love that idea. :D

I have a piggy back on my f355. With it you can change timing, add or take fuel out. Works very well and overrides stock computer.

You are gonna have to book your tuning time, separate. I'm not sure what they charge, but I think it's something like $475 for tuning?

Hi Ernie, here we go again:

    The following modifications were done:

Race port work on the heads
    Lighter valves with stiffer springs
hydraulic valve lifter changed into mechanical valve lifter
High compression ratio pistons (race pistons)
    360 crank
Race headers and exhaust without a bypass
Motec ecu and a 10500rpm rev limit
    changed race cams
    Hi flow injectors
    Hi flow fuel pump
    Maps sensors instead of mafs
    Ported/bigger throttle bodies
Light weight flywheel and race clutch

3 cars have been tested on the dynojet:

Red curve: Standart 355 GTB with sports exhaust (5.2 ECU)
Blue curve: F355 Challenge with modifcations
    Green curve: original F430 Challenge

Not too bad guys, what do you think ?

Results is hp measured at the wheels !

    WOW!!!

Man you had to spin that thing up high! What rpm did you make peak hp?

And, did you have to modify the 360 crank to get the gearbox transfer shaft to be able fit it? Pictures man, we need pictures. :D

Very nice. Is the Q+ plug and play or did you have to splice into the OEM wiring harness to tap into the various sensors etc?

I didn't do the install but I think the wiring was spliced into the existing so could use the stock sensors etc. My car was really running rich and alot of fuel was taking out in the mid range and really helped throttle response and power. Timing was slightly increased.

The peak hp is about 9300 rpm.
There is also a stronger gearbox transfer shaft installed.

Great freakin HP numbers on a dyno-jet Andi .... :D ........ great list of mods too .... :)

Most of my dyno experience is on a dyno-jet ....... when using that velocity mode of illustration, the gear used will affect measured HP numbers a tiny bit .... the F430 will have a different ratio all together ........ but judging from the F430 plot ..... your 355 would be at about 470-480+HP at the crank :) .......... do you know what gear was used on the two 355 curves? I just want to know for gnats azz comparison if possible  ....... thanks for sharing!!!

    Little update.

Last month I removed my custom exhaust system and bolt back on the stock junk, with a borrow stock single can. I did this to pass the Commiefornia smog test. A couple days after I passed the sniffer I redyno'd my car at Chuch's to see what the loss was. My peak hp dropped to 293, and peak tq was down to 229. But under the curve in the mid range I was down about -12.5 lb/ft tq. Above the curve I was down as much as -14hp at 7400rpm. Having said that, the torque simply dies after 7000 rpm in all the pulls, before and after.

I talked to Shawn (owner of Church's) and he said the Dynapacks only have about an 8% drivetrain loss. Meaning that my full mods make roughly 332hp at the crank, and the stock exhaust single can system, with ported intake & tbs, makes 319hp at the crank.

Next time you have a group day at the dyno I want to know how much my little red car is making.
