There are some ways around it, larger injectors, increase fuel pressure etc. Piggyback is also an option, somebody on here had it done to their 355.

There are some guys that can really tune the Bosch stuff, I know of a guy that does a lot of 944/951 work including a complete reprogram to let the computer use a MAF sensor and MAP sensor instead of the stock AFM (air flapper), use larger injectors etc. He also loads 2 tunes on his chips (which are double memory vs. the stock ones) allowing you to flip a wire to change tunes. Of course, he'd need access to a car to do it, but the ability is out there for sure.

A box showed up today that 348 owners (as well as others) should be very interested in....

Through my years in this aftermarket industry I have come across a number of contacts and seen a lot of companies innovative new products. Years ago I was made aware of a new nanotechnology synthetic oil that had been gathering praise from many a respected colleague in the automotive performance aftermarket.

In my quest for 300rwhp on the 348 with only bolt on modifications, I received the OK from the owner to go ahead and perform back to back dyno testing with this new nanotechnology oil. In past independent tests, the Millers oil has gained 1-4% power across the board. The oil was tested by world renowned engine builder Zytek, which picked up 5hp on their Formula Renault 3.5 liter V8.

I am hoping for a consistent 2-3% HP increase on Dave's 348. His car is a perfect test mule, as it just completed a 30K service which included fresh oil (Royal Purple Full Synthetic 5w-30) and fresh trans fluid.

To keep the test as accurate as possible, I have new Royal Purple to go in the engine. Through all the dyno testing we have done on his car to date, the original fill the car came in with might have sheared down to a lower viscosity, thus improving power. Therefor, the back to back dyno will happen in the same day, with fresh oil to compare.

If I do find a consistent HP gain with the oil, I will be sure to share with not only the 348/355 crowd, but others as well. My feeling is, the high rpm Ferrari engines will love this oil.

Ernie, don't we already have 300 rwHP? I think we're on the quest for 320 now. ;)

    Chris,
What is the cost for the Miller Oils Nanodrive (unobtainium or Expensium) racing oil? How about the tranny fluid? Does the tranny fluid yield the same smoothness for shifting that the Redline on a 348? Last question is when will the 348 license plate mount be available? I just got a very expensive ticket in Portland, OR on Tuesday from the Nazi meter readers due to no front plate (even with the plate on the dashlooking out the front windshield!).
    Thank You,
    Surfwolf/Mike

Running a thinner oil is going to yield a touch more bhp regardless. Everyone motorsports runs a thinner oil for qualifying, along with other modifications in the 80s they called them grenade motors. I like Miller's product, but I will would have stuck to the 40w juice as a long fill. Even in Miller's description of their 30w, it is recommended to be used for short times such as qualifying or hill climb events, rather their 40w is the long-pour.

Miller's 30w nano has an HTHS of 3.11 while their 40w has just an HTHS of about 4. I would never consider running anything in a motor that revs to nearly 8k rpm regularly without an HTHS of about 4, and if a person ran their car hot enough regularly I would even recommend their 50w which as I understand it is what Ferrari themselves recommend if the car is run as I've described often enough. The standard pour in the Enzo engine is 60w Shell Helix, and per my last visit to Road Atlanta I noticed the couple challenge cars present were also running 60w Helix.
