Took my new 2008 430 F1 for a drive today. I'm a new owner and it's the first day home. Anyway, ran great. Parked it. Opened and closed drivers door a few times and noticed the familiar pump noise sounded different. I didn't think anything of it. Five hours later I start the car to park it at the neighbors house, due to finishing painting my garage. Driving 25 mph or less in auto setting, one min into drive the dash displays this:
    Slow down
F1 gearbox failure (red gearbox pic)
E Diff (not sure if red or yellow)
Then car wouldn't shift out of neutral. After restarting all seemed fine until it stalled at a stop sign. Won't restart the "N" flashes. When I hold both paddles to manually force shift nothing happens except the car beeps and the little red f1 gearbox illuminates. Car still won't start. No crank, like it's in gear.
Also, now when the drivers door is opened, no pump sound is heard.
After reading lots of threads like mine it's either a battery problem or F1 switch/solenoid.
Bummer first day of ownership. I'm in cincinnati and a member of FCA. Prob just have to call MAG and have it towed. Any help would be appreciated. B.

Could be battery crapped out. I have 2008 and was getting similar errors before battery went totally dead.

Hopefully just a dead battery as they certainly cause all sorts of interesting errors and warnings on their way out. That's pretty rough for your first day however.

I agree with the battery being the culprit. Ill search the forum for a optima replacement comparable for the f430. Do those even fit? Is there a "power up" after the battery is replaced? I'll check owners manual now.

You will need radio code after replacing battery. Also may need radio system firmware upgrade.

Glad to help. Just changed mine today. After hours of research, turns out the correct application for the F430 is the group 34R. Luckily, it's the most powerful Optima battery, and readily available everywhere, even in this crappy town :). Perfect fit; no need to change, modify, or remove anything. By the way, also installed the battery charger pigtail right under the right wiper. It was a PITA, but did a factory job, and now can charge it without having to open (or leaving open) anything. Hope this helps gang.

Sorry to hear your problems on first day - bummer!
First few drives are always special so lets hope it's an easy fix.

F1 pump was bad. Dealer replaced under normal warrenty period. Then test drove, more error codes. Replaced sellinoid. Problem solved.
My question now is, are these new pumps everyone is getting reengineered not to fail so easily?
