Some of my client is having hard time sending e-mails to me, as my provider is rejecting all mails coming from this 1 provider. The reason: someone caused a major damage by sending virus through this provider, and this provider is now on the blacklist, so my provider is not accepting any e-mails from this provider.

I have never heard of a problem like this. So one jerk screw up, and the whole customer lose previledge?

I did noticed their e-mails comes w/ "Possible Spam" at the beginning of subject lately. BTW, I use Outlook Express from Entourage.

Anyone know any quick fix for the problem like this?

Not a quick fix at all. We've had several clients who cannot send mail to us and it can take weeks or just a few days to get off of the blacklist. Your client will just need to use an alternative way of sending you email: yahoo/msn/gmail, etc. Something else, anything else for the moment.

The problem typically isn't because a virus was sent from the email system. The majority of the time, the mail server is unpatched and wide open. It's typically used for relaying spam and relaying viruses because of the lack of care from the admin. Thus, because of this lack of care and patchwork, they are black listed. This action solves more problems than it causes.

    Their server/isp/admin must contact ORDB.

Just look them up on ORDB: www.ordb.org

    Thanks Randy,
This is the second time it happened. First one happened September last year, too. Took about 3 weeks to get them off from the blacklist. I am doing the same, but I thought there could be something I don't know!

I advised them to use another e-mail address for now, but it's getting annoying.
