All: I was interested in picking up a Haynes shop manual for my Jag E-Type, and I see that it's out of print (which makes sense, since the E-Type is long out of production). Does anyone know where I could get a copy, or if there's a suitable replacement? I've seen one on Amazon (by Autobooks), but I am unsure of how good it is. Any recommendations?
Send me a PM, I have the factory manuals as PDF files - they are pretty big, but I'm sure I could send via FTP or something.
David, If you happen to have a PDF shop manual for a 1970 E-type FHC, I'd sure like a copy. My email id is [email protected]. There was a thread in the Silver Subscribed section on "How to Email a Gig" (how to send large video files). To summarize, the advice given was: - Use a service like one of the following: .. - http://www.sendbigfiles.com/ .. - http://www.yousendit.com/ .. - http://www.sendthisfile.com/ - Make a CD/DVD and send it by regular mail - Buy an inexpensive USB Flash Drive, copy the file(s) to it, and send it by regular mail. Thread is at: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222944 Thanks.
David, Thanks much, I've sent a PM to you. Let me know if the sites Toggie recommended work if the files are too big to e-mail. 2NA - I know Haynes isn't always the best, but I am so familiar with them that there's a comfort zone. Oh, my model is a '66 FHC. xs10shl - XKs Unlimited has the shop manuals, but they're like $120.00!! I hate to be a cheap skate, but the Haynes option would be cheaper and a more known commodity. Thanks all! Rich
I got one years ago, forget where I bought it. It's much more comprehensive than Hynes. Green cover about 2 1/2 inches thick.
I set up a gmail account just to host the service manuals. Eventually I'll try to add the parts manuals too. Probably best that I don't post the username & password here, but if anyone is interested, just pop me a note at [email protected] and I'll send you the info.
Got it.... Its full of small downloads, will take a few hours to take it all in... Thanks, I am actually looking now for the wiring diagram of the thermo switch in radiator... These are the last of the british sports cars you could actually do everything your self...like a childs Maze compared to the cars of 10 years later. I am still crossing my T's and dotting my i's....in preparation for concours... Thanks again. Michael Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got it, also. Thanks! Good technique to set up a new Google gmail account and share the file attachments with others. Clever. I did the "download all attachments" on the two S2 4.2 emails. The two large zip files came down pretty quickly. Now I'll have to spend some quality time paging through these PDF files.
Good luck with that! While I think these are far easier cars to work on than modern cars, the comparison of working on an E-Type to a similar year Corvette, or even my 240Z is night and day. Perhaps it's my unfamiliarity with the E, and the worry of British quirks that scares me a bit. Funny story - I had to replace the fuel pump on both my Z and my E. The Z was like a 30 minute affair, start to finish. Just locating and then removing the pump on my E was a 2-3 day affair (improper tools, location of the pump is awkward), and I STILL haven't replaced it! In any event, the manuals should help me get more comfortable and wrenching away!
Great find Brian! The cannell site is probably where I had found the manuals way back when. Much easier to just download the big .zip files from there.
