I just love the look of the early '90s M3, specificly the E30 model........
My friend in Africa had a 325is tuned by Alpina, that thing was quick as anything.........I have heard of people putting the E36 M3 motor in the E30.....

if you have pics post them, Thanx

Yes yes yes, The E30 M3 is really nice. Did you know that the only identitcal body panel to a normal e30 is the hood.

They do put even over 1000bhp turboed M5 engines in the e30 but in my oppinion the original is as it should be, especially the evo3 or "johnny cecotto" versions. Beautiful cars. Heres some good info on them http://www.qv500.com/indexbmw.php

Not my but a picture anyways

Yes. Very possible. In fact, a lot of people have put E36 M3 motors in their E30 M3's instead of rebuilding the original engine. Some good places to start are

    www.bimmerforums.com
    www.dtmpower.net
    www.s14.net (E30 M3 Specific. Tons of info)

    Good luck

That sound weight/balance/power wise like a good solution. Here is another one, from Sweden by a guy named Kilander featuring e30 pictured below -> "two black lines" Not as cornering intended as other solutions but, very radical. It's a turboed 3,8L M5 engine

Interesting is that an original in good condition beeing M3 E30, especially evo3 or cecoottos are staring to climb upwards in the price range dramatically. But then again, it's a classic !

E30 M3 is the most fun to drive car I've driven (I haven't driven an Elise though).

Back in the 90s most of my college buddies drive one. Too bad there wasn't that many tuning parts available. Funny the mods were available (in the US) after the release on the E36 M3 (The US M3 to me is just an M330i with a tuned 325i 3.0l engine, different than the Euro engine).

IMHO don't get a 6-cyl transplant. Better make your own 2.5l motor ala Sport Evo. There are tons of mods available right now.

I think it's a testament that the e30 cars are beginning to be more valuable than the e36 cars (ala Porsche 993 vs. 996) - some people prefer the simplicity and purpose build of the classics. I'd love to own one someday - it's one of those cars (like the old M5 and M6) where the numbers just don't tell the whole story.
