I have a 2006 M3 6 speed convertible approaching 97k miles. No history of them being done, and I have had the car 2 years and about 7k miles. It’s been flawless as an around the town cruiser for the family. I’m normally a DIYer with a home lift, but I just can’t get motivated to do this myself. I have read thru various tutorials and service bulletins, but just have no energy to take this one on. Has anyone serviced this out recently and had a rough service estimate? There are 2 shops in Indianapolis I have previously reached out to who would be familiar with the platform.

Would also likely have the Vanos swapped/rebuilt and do a valve adjustment and associated mechanicals with that.

I keep reading conflicting reports if ALL S54 motors needed Rod bearings or just predominantly the earlier ones. My last (and only) oil analysis showed nothing telling or immediately detrimental.

if I motivate myself to do it, which kits are preferred as well as doing a Dr vanos swap or Besian seals?

I thought it was earlier cars that had “the big 3” needs, not the later. Vanos stuff Dr.V is usually the go to.
