    Do you like it? How is the SMG in daily commute traffic? I am planing on ordering one this week to replace my current e39 M5 with 108,000 and would appreciate any feedback from current e60 M5 owners...good or bad...

    I was speaking with an E60 M5 owner just the other day, and asked him how he likes it. He said the iDrive isn't bad, once you get used to it, and the he actually loves the SMG, as you can slip it into fully auto mode in stop and go traffic. From what I was able to gather, it is just like any luxury car if you want, and a sports car when you want a sports car.

    Only negative comment I've heard since I'm seriously looking at one, is that when in automatic mode, downshifts take a lifetime...

    With 500 hp on tap and gobs of torque, do you really need downshifts that badly?

    This car does NOT have gobs of torque. Consider that the E55 (this car's most direct competitor) has 516 lb-ft, while the M5 has only 384 lb-ft, and it is by no means a torque monster.

    Still a friggin' awesome car, just thought I should point that out :)

    The last car I had before the S4 had 538ftlbs on the dyno... I don't think I'll have any car for a while that makes that much torque :p

    Well, I ordered my new e60 M5 on Friday: Silverstone metallic exterior with Indianapolis Red full leather and Olive Ash wood trim interior. I should get the car in June...

    I love mine and in the fastest smg shift mode the system works well. I don't drive in any other setting though it jerks a little too much. I love the car though.

    I've never driven an auto that has downshifted easily or at the right time... it should be a-ok in manual mode I'm sure :)
