I almost did not answer this because my ownership data is dated although I own a turbo 911 currently.

I loved my M3 but they are highly streessed to get the power the base 997 Porche is not tuned so much.

Both cars when things go wrong they can be very expensive. Assuming you do not want it as a family car I would vote Porsche. The porsche will not be as quick and powerful but will be a better handling car and a delight. If you want a family car the base 3 series are good drivers and better for the pocket book concerning costs.

I did not look at where you live. if you are young I would find a Corvette, a 2008 or newer. You can beat them and they last forever. The 2008 or newer cars actually drive well. The oil changes and common stuff are very cheap. The ZR1 is an awesome car. I say this and I do not even like vettes because of the looks. The ZR1 is the most impressive car I have ever driven with the exception of the Mosler.

Good luck to you what ever you end up with.

    I would say about equal.

Vette would not be a bad choice, I agree with above.
