Hi all, I'm looking for some guidance here....I have the owners manuals for chassis # 41465 which was a 1983 USA Market 308 GTSQV sold new by Grand Prix Motors in Seattle on 2 June 1983 with 287 Miles on the clock. Wade's QV registry lists 41487 as the first QV Pre Production and 41695 as the Second PP? Any earlier chassis # known?
QV register has inaccurate information on my 85 QV as well. Sent numerous requests for a full year asking for it to be changed without success, finally just gave up..
41465 is likely a QV. I don't think 41487 is Pre-production because it was sold as a new QV based on your records. I have the chassis numbers of the couple of GTSi with the QV engine somewhere. I think they go back to the 81 model but I am not certain. I know a few Mondials that have earlier chassis #'s with QV motors, for example 39909
Some info from F register. Those with 1xxxx, 2xxxx are obviously wrong and these started with 3xxxx are still doubtful.
During model changes, there was a great deal of overlap. It wasn't stop one model and start the other with a very definitive line and no looking back. Apparently 41701 was a QV (listed as the first one in some references) and 41737 as the first Mondial QV. Ferrari built 8 more 2Vi after 41701 before building another 308 QV. After that a couple more 2Vi's then things really started rolling with the QV.
Absolutely: the overlap was even rather long in some transitions: for instance, from end march 1989 to mid september of the same year, and from chassis #80600 to 83136, which is a run of 2500 cars, the last 328s and the first 348s were assembled at the same time. So there wasn't at the time a stop for one model one day, and production of the next the day after. As shown, the overlap proved to be quite long in some transitions... Rgds
How does one get on the QV Register? I have tried more than once but to no avail. Appreciate help here. Thanks guy's!
Sorry guys but my business makes it very difficult for me to update the register. I have had plans for the last couple of years to update the site to a site that can be updated by the users, but have been unsuccessful getting the IT guys to get it done. All the updates currently need to be entered by hand and is very time consuming, I understand your frustrations and I want to update everyone's information with more accurate and current info. Its just a time thing I do apologize, currently I have 1500 + entries to make and countless updates on existing entries. If anyone has any suggestions as how i can make this easier Im listening. Thanks Wade
I would respectfully suggest handing the website off to someone with more available time? As it is now Wade, I would rather have all the information on Euro #54403 deleted rather then be inaccurate. Seriously not trying to trash on you brother, I understand the time restraints running a business. I'm only speaking for my car/situation no one else's ..
1500 entries, waouh, that's a lot. I wish I could help doing this. That would be interesting to have all that new information. Your register is very useful for many people, be sure of that !
Kim can you tell me if there is any info in your cars history of it being at FAF anytime in 1987 Wade
Wade, I am sitting in the Houston airport on return trip from Rome so don't have the exact details on hand at the moment.. BUT, it was reporting on the register as being for sale with 4000 miles showing on the odometer and then once again six months later? Showing 4500 miles on the odometer from a gentleman named Steve? Contacted the 2nd. owner via phone conversation who is a dentist who confirmed the car was never in this gentleman's possession. Owner also confirmed the vehicle was never listed for sale during this time as it was in his possession. History shows nothing of it ever being for sale through FAF. IIRC , 2nd Owner offered the car for sale with 19,000 miles on the odometer. Gave up on this over two years ago so I would have to pull my file and get reacquainted to be 100% positive of what I'm posting
from my understanding the guy who listed it at that time period worked for FAF so he may have listed for sale on the market or what, idk but I'll remove that entry Wade
Thank You!! Car was sold new in Saudia Arabia and was imported with 3000 miles on it? From second owner who said he subsequently had to have a total engine rebuild Buy Ferrari with under 10,000 miles do to being of no importance for the Saudi Owner to check oil consumption. Guess it's really not uncommon for cars coming from that region. But confirmed the engine was gone through top to bottom by two Ferrari Factory Tech's. $22,000 US in 1986
I think he died a little while back. Fred was the man who introduced me to the FCA one day back in Mar of 92. He invited me to a track event at Road Atlanta that weekend. I still have the home movies of that day there. I get my 25 year FCA pin next year thanks to him.
Any chance of these entries being removed? Car has never been in Atlanta or offered for sale by Mr. Repass. Sent this information time and time again.Would seriously like this remedied or just delete the whole listing on the car. I've grown very tired of this BS.
Ok Wade, here's the information on QV #54403 for the 4th. Time. 4/25/1986 imported into the US by Charles Chi Sun, Silversprings Maryland. 8/21/87 Sold to Motorwerks Sales / leasing dealership, centerville Ohio, Odo. Reading 2750 miles. 10/00/1987 sold to Martin Okun, Washington DC .(gentleman I spoke with ) Odo. Reading 2824 miles. I'm quoting Martin's email to me.. " soon after I bought the car there was a major motor problem. By referral it went to Tim Holt/Holt Motorsports in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, he employed three Ferrari factory trained mechanics, they rebuild the engine top to bottom and it was better than new. Tim currently has a business called Holt Motorsports in West Chester Pennsylvania. ($22,000) Absolutely loved that QV. Own a testarossa now." I called Holt Motorsport and spoke with Tim regarding my QV, he actually called me twice more with more info on #54403. Martin Okun owned this QV until 8/6/91. Sold it to Joanne and Jerry Feder, Crossville Tennessee. Odo.22,315mi. Purchase price $49,045.25 ( includes doc fees ) They intern owned this car until 5/29/2011, sold it to Walter and Jan McNichols, Saint Augustine Florida. 2/7/2012 McNichols Family traded it in to Daytona dodge/Chrysler Daytona Beach Florida, and they transferred it to their sister dealership, Deland Nissan, Deland Florida where I subsequently purchased the car 4/27/2012 Odo. 40,325 mi. I spoke with the 2nd. owner Martin Okun personally. He informed me that this car was never in Atlanta, or remotely in the possession of Mr. Fred Repass, or was he ever contacted about selling the car. It's very documented and the information showing on your "308 QV registry" is clearly inaccurate and in reference to another vehicle. Once again, I have been dealing with these inaccuracies and brought them to your attention over two years ago and get the same song and dance where you're too busy to address them yet I see you are now a moderator for this website? This has become like dealing with Carfax. I would respectfully ask you to address this now as you had time to look in the registry and had the paperwork in front of you to know exactly what inaccuracies I've been talking about but yet not the 10 minutes to fix it. To say I am beyond pissed at this point would be an understatement. Didn't want personal information of my vehicle listed this way but apparently it's the only way to get your attention.
if you would have taken the time to look at the entry yesterday afternoon you would have seen that the "inaccurate information" was removed. I understand your frustration and obviously you have gone to great lengths to get accurate info on your car. However, when I put this site together I relied on information from many sources including but not limited to FML, Dr. Marvins Ferrari register, some dealers and repair shops. The information about your car and that entry came from Dr. Robert Marvin's Ferrari register and it is not one entry there are 3 entries stating the same information, so as most people would think , yes one could be wrong but 3. So I have removed the info that you have requested to be removed and I will update it with the information in the format you have supplied. Wade
You're "beyond pissed" about this? Ease up man, that website is just for fun. Don't let it get to you like someone is ripping you off or mismanaging your investments
I did take the time to review the site and The information was still active this morning and the reason for the post. With respect Dr. Tommy. I think two years is ample time to get this straightened out and have been MORE than patient. All of us here go to great lengths to gather accurate information on our cars. Would not bode well with anyone else either I'm sure. At this point Wade, I don't even care if you enter that information as long as the inaccurate pieces are deleted. Would be happiest to not have any info on the registry regarding this QV.
Not sure who's information you removed, wasn't mine.(#54403) same BS, different day. Not a great stretch to find three other sites with incorrect information when all that's happening is copy and paste from other sites. All you new QV Owners take note. You WILL have to explain discrepancies in the future.. absolutely no difference between 308 QV Registry and Carfax.
