A rare piece in wonderful condition!

    GLWS!

I need the bottom fitting of the prop rod if you run across one...I'd buy the whole thing if I have to.

Just saw this, I guess I'm too late.

Anyone know if a frayed cable can be replaced without replacing the whole retractor, and where to get the cable?

    Thanks

    Hi Bill

I wish I had ten of these things....;>) I have never tried to change the cable in one, but it must be doable. I think the big question would be if the two parts could be separated without doing fatal damage. I guess the amount and type of glue that was used would be the key. A suitable 1/16" cable could be found at almost any hardware, home improvement store. If you look at the picture of the bottom of the unit, it looks like there is provision for getting a blade in and prying the two pieces apart.

The original buyer is starting to look "iffy", but "Casino Square" is next in line.

Verrel from Unobtainium Supply was attempting to make this part as well as the bottom fitting for the rod prop. The thread is in the 308/328 section. I'll see if I can find it or perhaps contact Verrel and see how he is making out. I sent him an old spool retractor that he could use for a pattern.

I was able to get this from Maranello recently and was hoping someone would be kind enough to describe or post a picture of the correct fasteners. Head type, length, size and thread pitch.

    Thanks
