Has any early 308 GTB owners noticed the value has gone up in the latest CAVALLINO issue? Both glass and steel GTB's went up about 10k. I don't know how much attention is given to that market value section but its good to hear. Maybe that 100k is closer than we think!

It's my belief that the earliest GTBs, especially the glass cars are going to be the 'holy grail' of the 308 series due to their low production numbers and beautiful lines, not to mention how few well kept original cars are still around. IIRC, a pristine original '77 GTB left the auction block at $64k. The same thing is happening with the Lamborghini LP400, 365 Boxer, and others. It's just a matter of time.

I think all the 308/328s have been undervalued for a while, and the 'glass 308s will always retain value just because they're unique (only 'plastic' cars in Ferrari history?)

Marshall Goldman has an '88 328 listed at ~$80K right now (very low miles), so I think the whole series is slowly getting its due.

The Big Push in in the earliest cars...NON CAT engines are the strongest...so let's see, that would stop about.........1977.

But a rising tide floats all boats, they say...and really when you got to a certain point in age you could always rebuild any of the engines to the early specifications, while you are throwing

It seems that everywhere except for the US has keyed in on early GTB value. I am surprised there aren't more early GTBs leaving US shores because of this.....

It sucks for people like me; those who will never sell their 308 and only want to buy more - to keep also...

If I had it my way, Ferrari's would only go to owners who are Ferrari fans

I could never sell mine either. I have owned many different sports cars, but the Ferrari will always be with my family. There is undoubtedly something profound about owning and driving a Ferrari that; for me anyway, puts me in a mindset that will never allow me to part with it regardless of what the market value may be.

    Truth.

Market value matters little if you plan to keep your car forever. (Greater inheritance taxes for my grandson who hasn't been born yet?)

Very well put. I totally agree 100%

If they hit $150,000 one day, all that means to me is the car in my garage that I am never selling is worth $150,000. It's money I will never see.

I suppose it will be fun just knowing it, though...

My hat is off to the guy in Italy who drove his all original (quite tatty) Maserati birdcage until he was physically unable to and parked it in his very modest and dusty garage in Italy, but still kept the car serviced. Once he could not drive it any longer, he auctioned it for upwards of $2.2 million. Evidently no one in his family had any desire to keep the car.

I often wonder if my family will request I do the same thing in the name of liquidating my estate prior to my departure. I hope not, but who knows.

First "polyester" Ferrari road cars, Jon. Other composites were used later in some road cars. Formula 1 and Le Mans cars were fiberglass + alloy.
