    Something I've been wondering about for a while... my 1978 308 GTS has thick rubber pieces that fit into and protrude from the indentations that run lengthwise along the lower half of the body... later 308s seem not to have these strips but rather are painted black inside the indentation lines. When did the cars stop coming with these rubber strips originally? Or was this some sort of option? I have not seen other 308s with these strips, early and later models included. Also are these strips being reproduced by anyone? mine are in good shape but I would like to get a new set

    I believe these were produced by FAF in Atlanta (now Ferrari of Atlanta) as a dealer option. I bought a set for my 308, but never installed them. Actually a very good idea from the standpoint of door dings!!!

    Mine is a NA not a US version 1981 GTSi. Origionally imported into Vancouver. It spent time in Canada, CA and TX before I bought it.

    It has them. Looks like they have been on for quite some time. No idea when they were added.


    Actually I like them.

    As far as I know, they are not. I have a small piece in my desk drawer to help me ID the material when I (every now and then) do a search for the material.

    Steve Alghrim at T Rutlands was the man behind the idea way back in the day

    I'm surprised - it really doesn't detract from the overall appearance of the car and certainly is functional. Perhaps someone will reproduce them. My only concern would be rounded corners at the ends rather than a cut off with scissors look.

    They were on my car when I purchased it. I would like to remove them, but don't want to pull paint off at the same time. Does anyone have an idea? I have thought about using a piece of fishing line and working it back and forth.

    I would think you'd be looking at repaint of the reveal to remove them, by the time you get the adhesive cleaned up......

    I was thinking that 3M adhesive remover would take care of the adhesive, I am just worried that when pulling the trim off it may pull some of the paint with it. I guess there is only one way to find out.
