ItalianCarFest Update Thanks to all of you that have already entered. Applications for entry are coming in at a brisk pace. Here are a few notes of interest for you who have entered and those of you who have yet to enter: We are within striking distance of achieving our goal of having entries from 15 states. Entries from Arizona & Illinois came in week or two ago. What this tells us is we are quickly building the weekend into something that has a wide geographic appeal. And as more cars from more locales are on the show field, the greater variety of wonderful examples of Italian machinery that will be present to admire. To the many of you who have helped get the word out, many thanks! Another interesting development is the acceptance of the Reserved Weekend Package. This option, priced at $350, has been selected by 12 participants to date. Included in the package, beside access to the ICF Sat. Evening at Gaylord and the Scenic Drive/Speedway Brunch, is space for the participant's car under a canopy during Saturday's show at Cross Timbers Winery. What the runaway success of this package tells us is entrants want to make this into a weekend celebration of Italian cars (and that given the chance they'll take the shade!). And the interest in the Boardwalk Track Day, Sunday Sept. 10 has been great. Dawn Stokes reports plenty of activity as registrations have already begun. If you have not already registered your car for this exciting event at Texas Motor Speedway, please act now. If you have not considered coming out to ItalianCarFest as an entry or a visitor, please do. We have more space than last year, more activities and we want you to be part of it. italiancarfest.com -Jerry Lee Phillips (817) 521-4400
Speaking of shade, what determines who gets it, besides under the tent. If I remember the outer edges of the field were shaded, which is what I want.
I enjoyed my time last year - drove up from Houston. Got to see an immortal SWB, Brian's well-travelled CS and other nice cars. Also met a few f-chatters include Yoshi, BCStradale, Speedracerette (when she could tear herself from that pink Mini-like car ) I will certainly come by this year time permitting.
Hi. Italiacars- Well, because spacing starts with the first car arriving for each class, I do not think it is certain anyone will be under shade unless they sign up for the Reserved Weekend Package (RWP) to get space under a canopy. As you may remember there are quite a few trees on the winery grounds- near the Party Barn, near the Patio, and in the Front Yard of the Tasting House (where the Winners Circle will be). If shade is very important, you may wish to consider a RWP. The RWP is available at 2 levels: Full and Limited. Go to italiancarfest.com then click on 'Application'. P.1 is the form itself, p.2 is a description of events and p.3 is is a detail of the RWPs so go to p.3. xxxxxxxxxx A few of the interesting cars that have registered in the last few days: '71 ISO Grifo Series 2 '67 Lamborghini Miuria P400 '64 Lamborghini GT400 '70 DeTomaso Mangusta And Platinum Sponsor, Texas Driver Magazine, anticipates having a '99 Bugatti EB110 SS- and this car is all Italian. Regards -Jerry
Friggin awesome. The Iso Grifo, Mangusta, and Miura have all been top 10 favorite cars of mine, and I've never gotten to see any! Sounds like an even better lineup this year.
