flat floor, outside latches, ist interior, 98% 1st paint(crummy colors) scary original survivor car , low showing clock, period original funky, runs perfect with almost no leaks, original MICA insulator shield for carbs intact, excellent porcelain.. what should I offer-the guy is clueless..bought it from his dentist 25 years ago after it had sat for 20 years with a bad fuel pump only-incredible survivor(and i have been doing this all my life!) I dont know anything about jags except these raced against SWBs until the liteweights... opinions on what to offer???
Has he used it after he bought it from the dentist where it sat for 20 years? Because if it's been sitting that long, once you start using it, everything will eventually start to leak. Probably the radiator first....then everything working back behind it will follow. So keep that in mind. How's the chrome? The guys hasn't even looked at values on ebay yet? Ragtops are worth more, but without seeing it, its tough to say. To throw out a fair number on a grungy unrestored car that's all there... Coupe: maybe around 30-40, Roadster: 40 - 50. Also...since it is one of the first series, depending on its serial number, it can be worth more to hardcore collectors.
Mine sat for 20+ years...I can all but assure you this is what you'll need: New ball joints / suspension bushings / etc. New (or baked) gas tank Rebuilt rear unit New hoses New radiator New (or rebuilt) carbs Brake lines / calipers Floors (whether complete replacement or weld on existing) All new rubber trim Replace crank rope seal Mcimino speaks the truth - the car will leak. The good news is, much of it can be repaired / replaced with the right mechanic, time, and money. That list above is pretty much everything I did to my car and it's been great, but it's still just a driver for what it's worth.
