So after getting an engine in on core for another build we decided to build this one up stock! shocker right? Turns out it's an early '74 GT4 engine. Block F106A #103536 SN# 00228 however it looks to be re-peened into a 00628 at the factory.

The interesting bits, it's a Euro engine. The camshafts are in series 107188-189-190-191, none are stamped P6. A quick check nets 303 Degrees duration, I'll be getting them profiled as I thought they were P6 cams but they have different numbers then what's published for P6 cams. The heads and intake are ported and matched, larger then stock 2V heads by 2mm on avg.

    Carbs are series 35-36-37-38.

Rods are unique, 435gr per, all matched, the bolts are also 40gr on the nose for a total weight of 535 with bolts. Every rod has been ground to match and balance, who did this is not clear. History on engine is that it's original. The pistons were etched on the underside of the skirt with weight and dia in what looks like to me factory writing, i.e. Italian "1"'s have the sloping look of a "7" etc.. 3 ring high compression. Cam covers are black as opposed to bare aluminum.

It makes me wonder if this engine is sporting the factory performance LM package that was available back then. Not sure.

In tearing it down the liners had corroded away fairly significantly (the block spent 3 days in a sonic tank to clean out all the scale), instead of replacing with another set of steel liners I have used a set of NOS nikasil ones we had on hand. The pistons are a new forging, narrow pin boss vs the barrel, weight dropped to 352gr with rings and pin, std high compression 3 ring pistons are 418gr.

Once the engine is finished assy we'll be taking it to the dyno. We have the original distributors and plug wires, but will be dyno testing with COP and electronic ignition. After that's all done I think Nick will be offering it up for sale.

    Pics in minute..

It's been a busy summer. The engine is just about finished, the red covers in this pic do not belong to the engine, they were laying about and I threw them on to snap a pic.

If anyone is interested in this build let us know, the engine will be available soon. Unless it gets dropped into one of the 308 restorations underway, though that is debatable.
