I used to work at a restoration shop in SoCal in the early 90's. During this time we performed some work on the car. The engine was correct/original then. The owner even took it for several laps a Laguna Seca.
IIRC, about a year after the car was shipped to Japan, I believe it received some minor damage in an earthquake that was centered near Kobe.

    Bonjour nunzio828

I am very proud to speak to the owner's first true GTO.

    i read in car collector:
The first true GTO(serial#3223GT) was shown to the public and press in the
factory courtyard on February,1962.Although it debuted without the now-
customary spoiler across the tail, by the time the car made its first racing
start less than a month later at Sebring,Florida,a spoiler had been riveted on.

    best regards from France

OK : 3765LM is a 4liters, but in 1965, it was received a 3 liters (from 0796 TR), to be committed as a 250 GTO in Italy . In 1985, its owner recovered an 4 liters to give in the car: thus, during 20 years, it was the 37th 250 GTO.

I confirm what 250 GTO wrote. It is 3387GT in Sebring 1962.
The first race of 3223GT is Double 400 in Bridgehampton, September 16, 1962.

Hi guys. I am working on creating a collection of sports liveries. I miss some events from the life of 3223gt.
I would appreciate any help, especially photos that I don't have:
    ???? 1963/jul/28 - Marlboro 6h Charlie Hayes/Gene Hobbs/Alan Patterson - #7
    ???? 1966/sep/04 - SCCA Daytona Larry Perkins - #?

Maybe I missed something, please correct me!

    Best regards,
    Anton.

You are missing some stickers on the body flanks and the group letter "D" as well re Bridgehampton 14 September 1963.

    Thanks for the note!
Bridgehampton'63 is also a weak point of my list, because I have only one photo.

Apparently, in this photo, the process of sticking stickers was just captured.

As this thread is about 3223 GT's early history, I believe it was the 250 GTO production prototype that Willy Mairesse crashed while testing the car on the Bologna to Firenze Autostrada, as described by Ing. Forghieri in the Davide Cironi video, starting in the link HERE that led to the Watts Linkage being added to the GTO's specification, as well as the reduction in the metal thickness of the helicoidal springs on the rear shock absorbers. Make sure the subtitles are switched on for the English translation.
