I found these on another forum: http://www.safety-car.net/galeria/albums/userpics/10001/mclaren2007.jpg http://www.safety-car.net/galeria/albums/userpics/10001/mclaren2007-1.jpg http://www.safety-car.net/galeria/albums/userpics/10001/mclaren2007-2.jpg P.S. I'm sure they will change it at least a little, but I think it's cool that we see another semi-red car in the grid(excluding the mostly whitle Super Aguri and Toyota). It's so weird to see the Vodafone on a McLaren! -John
nice find John. the 1st pic looks PS to me. i don't like it tho. the mix is just not nice at all. i think Mac should go back to repaint the car black. silver & red...not a smart combo
and i forgot at add. it's a contract thing. i don't think Vodafone can run their liveries on other cars. they have a contract till dec 31st with Ferrari.
At least they got rid of that "puker" color...not that is was really bad, but you know, damn that thing was not very exciting to look at.
So that makes 3 red/orange cars on the field. Ferrari, McLaren and Spyker. I think the teams would be smart enough to stay away from red, because every time a Midland/Spyker crashed I had a heart attack for half a second until I realized it was a Midland.
Interesting links, thanks. I think that 1st pic is possibly a photoshop job though. We all know the McLaren routine by now. Use this years car with a few 07 mods on it until jan, then release the new 07 car in McLaren orange, run that round until the media are board, then release the final colour scheme and announce they are; confident about the performance of the car, then go to the first race and get blown away and admit, surprise at the relative lack of performance.
DTM Mercedes (Vodafone) cars have more silver than red, so I hope McLaren will stay the same, otherwise it does get a bit confusing.
I liked the livery of a few years ago with JPM. Easy to spot on TV. Now with all the red, they get confused with Ferrari. I think its intentional.
I knew this was mostly fake, but it does give us a look at what next year's McLaren might look like. Whoever came up with the idea of painting it black, nice choice. I think the McLaren would look REALLY cool with like red Vodafone accents all over it, but then Alonso would find some way of complaining about it. Anyway, McLaren are supposed to have a big event in January where we can see the new look and everything. I guess we just have to look on to that. -John
Personally I think the McLaren looks great in orange. I think they should keep it throughout the season.
yup i agree. that silly reddish scheme really get things confused with the Ferrari. there should be a ruling where each team can't copy each other colours. each team should have a unique own colours. i think FIA should come up with something like this kinda rule. not that silly 2 engine race rule
Does anyone know how much input do sponsors have on what color the car is? I cant imagine the sponsor getting to decide what color the car is. Also, Ferrari is the only team that has 1 solid color throughout.
I hope Ferrari sues McLaren and Vodafone for violating the sponsorship agreement. Vodafone is under contract until December 31st. If Ron Dennis won't release Kimi until December 31, Ferrari should hammer them for stupidly getting caught on camera in public.
