The guy is an idiot. The passives have no effect on head room (head room the same from 85-91) and the entire collection of parts to install the passive restraint system weighs about 30 lbs. I would be willing to bet the all up weight difference between center lock wheels and 5 bolt wheels goes in favor of the 5 lug wheels for close to the same amount which leaves a mirror and a 3rd brake light difference. Does he figure that is worth 500 lbs?

The 85 is the rarest. It was a mid year intro. Didn't get released in the US until very late Sept. 85 but they also had by far the most problems. Ferrari rushed them to market and we did a ton of warranty work on early cars.

The OMs show an early (unconverted) euro at 3320 lbs and the US (all) at 3660 lbs (curb weight -- meaning with fluids, but no people nor cargo). There's no significant difference in weight for any US version TR -- except the seatbelts/wheels/# of mirrors items Brian mentioned plus the knee protection bar added in 1987.

The things that make a US version heavier (compared to an unconverted euro) might include:

    Door crash protection
    Knee Protection (added in 1987)
Heavier exhaust (cats + precats + maybe some extra cabin insulation)
    fuel evap control system
    air injection system
    KE-Jet vs K-Jet
    CHMSL

I'm not so sure I'd trust the F weight data anyway ;), but the seller is mis-applying an inflated difference that applies to an early unconverted euro vs a US version to an early US vs late US situation -- which it doesn't. (And, in theory, a truly properly converted euro would weigh exactly the same as a US version because all those items would be added/changed.)

That's a great data point -- but, by "no cats", do you mean that it is a version that originally came without cats (engine family F113A or F113B) or a version that came with cats (engine family F113A040 or F113A046) and has had the cats removed?

The latter. I removed the cats(and precats). It is a US version F113A 040

Thanks for clarifying that -- and it (surprisingly ;)) shows that the F number for the US version TR is maybe fairly truthful as the added driver weight probably about equals the missing fuel and precat/cat weight in your measurement.

    Great info, thanks guys.

I was hoping the car weighed a little less. I can't lose anymore weight so the car will have to go on a diet instead:D.
